*(You have to understand, my husband HATES cooking, and before I moved in and started making meals, he had about 7 different "dishes" that he cooked throughout the week, and sometimes he didn't even have those. A few cheese biscuits, a cup of tea, a couple slices of buttered bread, and then he'd pass out on the bed and sleep for hours, often waking up at 8pm, whereupon he would decide that it was too late to bother cooking, and just tucked himself into bed for the rest of the night.)

I'm trying to find meal combinations that will keep him fueled, or at least, provide his body with something to renew itself while he sleeps, because he rises at 3am to get ready for work and comes home at 1pm or so. He eats very boring food when I'm not cooking, but alas, I'm not waking in the wee hours to make him breakfast. :p I could do so on the weekends, but again, he sleeps so much that I never know when he'll get up, and breakfast would just be cold, as I usually rise before he does on Saturdays and Sundays. He's only 40, he shouldn't have to sleep so much, and feel tired all the time.

Also, he takes medication for mild but chronic depression. I'm trying to find foods that help alleviate that whole depression thing for him. I mean, it may sound far fetched, but if SHTF, he won't have access to those medications, and the last thing I want is the love of my life suffering like that. (It was how we first met. Long long story.)

Any input would be great.

Natural healthy fats are key to smooth brain function. Fish oil and coconut oil are two that are really good for brain cooties. Also butter from grass fed cows.

It can. Depends on the type of fish.

"Fatty fish, such as salmon, herring and to a lesser extent tuna, contain the most omega-3 fatty acids and therefore the most benefit, but many types of seafood contain small amounts of omega-3 fatty acids.

Most freshwater fish have less omega-3 fatty acids than do fatty saltwater fish. Some varieties of freshwater trout have relatively high levels of omega-3 fatty acids."

We use fermented cod liver oil (fclo) from Dr. Rons, as do many others here. If he doesn't like taking pills, they have a squirt bottle liquid version too...even comes in flavors. Right now we are using cinnamon flavored. My daughter is 14 and she is fine with it, except it is a tad spicy for her.
