That's a nice size. And, since you can fold it up when it's not is use, it makes it even nicer.

i was thinking about building one based on the one on my dads boat, given im so tight on space it seemed like the perfect solution (and it is lol)
i saw this at ikea in the clearance room for $20 so it came home with me.

i cant see a time when ill have more than 2 guests over (i dont know where id put more than that many lol.)
i just have to buy some chairs now...
i need folding chairs again for space, so im thinking about putting hooks on the wall to hang them up then painting the underside of the seats with something to compliment the plate so when there hung on the all there kinda like artwork too instead of just being chairs on the wall lol.

in othernews...

i fell off the wagon this week, gained 1/2 a lb back so im back at 167 UGH (2 lbs form my seriously major goal) so back to writing EVERYTHING down again.
i have been on a carb kick
this past week so know its my own fault, im also a little..."backed up" which doesnt help...need to up the fiber and protein and stop the picking.
back to keeping track.
i also need to stop making excuses and get my butt moving some more...
so wii fit for 30 mins every day and starting january 3rd ill be going to zumba at minimum once a week. (im hoping i can do every tues and thurs which would be about $25 a month)

weighed dozer today, hes almost 11 weeks old and weighs 16 1/2 lbs.

todays plan is pretty boring...
thursday is trashday...which means wednesday is deap clean day.

so gonna clean up around here, then ill do some wii fit time...
the house isnt too bad, got to vacume, do the bird cages and litterbox, im also goign to try and remove the yicky cabinate in the bathroom today and mount the white one i brought with me on the wall :) (right now its sat on the floor and the one on the wall is falling apart)

so...i shoudl realy get off my tush and get things going :)

What a great idea for the chairs! I hope you do it and take pictures - I stink at artistic painting (which is funny, because DS#1 was an amazing artist - maybe it skips a generation, because my Uncle was too?) but really love the idea!

I really need to dig the exercise equipment out of the garage and get back to it - although I have been losing 1/2 # a week since we moved here (I think it's because this house is so stretched out. Everything I do requires a lot of walking :D ). Hopefully, I can continue the weight loss, or speed it up a little, with some time on the elliptical.

lol id definatly add an excersize room if i had unlimited funds...lol

did pretty good this monring, the place looks and smells good, dishes done...did a 10% water change on the fish tank...
i might loose one of the koi angels...and the saddest part is its not the one wiht the eaten fins...the other koi angel whos stunning is very listless at the top of the tank and keeps floating onto his side...
i dunno whats going on, everyone else is doing well...but hes pretty much on the way out :(
im hoping its just water quality issue and that the water change will help...
but right now hes only doing mildly better :( this is the worst part abotu setting up a tank...sometimes nothing you do will make certain fish thrive...
the koi with the damaged fins is doing fine, the 2 small angels are doing great...everyone else in the tank is active and happy...
but hes fine for a few mins then sudenly just floating on his side again, he dfits under the filter outake and it flips him back upright and hes fine again for a few mins...it would be mildly comical if it wasnt so dang sad :(

gunna run my water test kit in a few mins and see exactly what my numbers are...i can do larger water changes if i have to, but dont realy want to because that can cause just as many other issues...ugh.

well tonight is the solstice...the shortest night and the breath of winter is truly here...
i sent the day giving my place a good cleaning...and sat and thought for a while as i burnt a couple small branches...

and then, i look up and flying above me is vulture, after vulture...i follow them with my gaze untill my eyes land upon a special sight...
erie...but breahtaking...there in the tree on my property, a MASS of vulture silohuettes, as my eyes scan over more and more...
when i took the picture and vid there was 53 vultures with more arriving.
turns out theyve decided its a good spot for a communal roost.

i dont mind them being here...they will only go after live prey if desperate so even when i bring livestock in, there fairly safe...

the vulture teaches us patients, thinking things through and resourcfullness...
definatly a message i need to keep in mind :)

thecommunalroost003.jpg

one of 3 trees being used
this one the heaviest populated

what a sight!
erie...and a little forboding at first, but what a sight!

There's an area around here where they roost. I don't know how many are actually in the trees, I've never counted them, and am not normally over that way when they do roost. But you're right, it's a bit eerie, albeit cool at the same time.

im big into symbolism, especially animal totems, ive seen the vultures fly over before but this is the first time ive seen this communal roost, looks like the past couple of days while ive been seeing more than usual theyve been souting out my property :)
there welcome to stay as long as they dont try it with the chickens/rabbits (tyipiclaly the only things small enough for a vulture to risk taking live and even that is RARE)

speaking of rabbits...found someone selling standard rex's...nice lines too...
might be getting myself some early january...thinking 2 bucks 2 does (that way i can breed Doe A to buck A, doe B to Buck B and keep back a couple of each does offspring to breed to the unrelated male...)

i need to get hutches and pens built first...
im trying to figure out the cheapest way of doing this and i dont want to do wire cages...
so right now i know i want to build 2 hutches for the 2 bucks, these will be 4' x 2' x 2'
the biggest expesne there is the wire for the floor and front... im looking at about $80 per hutch after taxes on new material using ply and 1x2's

then i knwo i want to pen raise the does...
i can do a 24x24 pen for $50 with rabbit guard (plus t-posts at about another $30) then they need some kind of secure housing/shelter to retreat to at night...it has to be lockable so i dont have to worry about racoons climbing in and raiding the houses while the bunnies are asleep...
thinkgin 2 more 4x2x2 "hutches" but theres would be solid bottom/front rather than wire with 2 pop doors on each raised about 12 " off the ground... these would be used just for sleeping there will be furring strips so each could be divided into 2 individual houses if needed.
under the hutches then one i would add 3 sides and turn it into a buffet zone (where the food and water bowls woudl be located the other i woudl leave open underneath as a shade zone.

obviously id want to put a wire floor on the pen to prevent dig out (chicken wire should be fine for this). eventually the grass (and clover/cover crops i seed) will just grow up through the wire. for grazing.
i havent yet priced this pen...but would have to get it done at the same time...
im thinking all told its about a $300 project...
ugh...
all for meat and fur...lol. am i crazy?!

the other option would be to build 4 of the hutches for now (i can use them for growing out the bunnies later) and then build the doe pen later...
it would be cheaper, but not by much...

Can you maybe use some of the wood from the sheds you're tearing down to help offset the costs?

And, speaking of sheds, do they have any good planks in them? If so, you may be able to sell them as "barn" boards. People will sometimes pay a pretty penny to get the wood from old barns and sheds for making into other things. I saw one website where they used it to make furniture.
