nj is certainly not much better than connecticut by the looks of it...
ouch!
but at least some of those in the 350-400K range are gorgeous...i mean they are like mansions...

in my area those homes would easily be $750,000 to million properties.

here in my town 400000 will get you a 1200-1800 sqft on anything from 1/8th to 2 acres. 3-4 beds 2 baths on average built in the 70-80's and $7000-$10,000 a year in tax depending on your acreage...

and people ask me why i dont "want" to stay in connecticut.
its not nessicarily that i dont want to...though im more than happy to leave the tax everything 4 times, and dont let you do anything with your own property area...your not even allowed to keep chickens on anything less than 5 acres...and then its still limited and other than horses, no swine or hoofstock allowed.
*shhhh dont tell anyone we has ninja chickens*

its because i dang well cant afford to stay in connecticut...
of course there are cheaper areas of ct, i happen to live in one of the most expensive counties in the universe....
but even still, if i head towards some cheaper areas im still looking at $100,000 to get what im looking for and the taxes to match...
i just cant do it...

especially not when i can get a very similar property in size and land, for a fraction of the property tax and about $35K

We have just over 1/2 an acre, and I'm not sure what we pay in taxes. I'm thinking it's around $5,000.00. I'd love to move, but can't. :(

my parents are in the same boat...or at least my dad is...
they love the house itself...they just dont love where it is or how much it costs to live in it, between state and town taxes we dont get enough services for the amount we pay and those taxes just keep going up...and now there actually taxing the TAX on our water bills because of a state deficite and the town will be adding another tax to our water and sewer bills in the next few months becuase they over expanded and of course its our job as residents to pay for their mistakes.

dad wants to move somewhere cheaper, i think mum does too, but right now work...and more importantly health insurance plays a big part in what they can and cant do...

after mums surgery and dads got a big surgery comming up...after that hes got a job offer he just might take that would mean being able to move anywhere on the east coast...but then youve got the game of selling the house for what is owed on it and hopefully enough to buy a small place outright...in this market...that could take forever!

today the sun is bright its not too cold and ive got a list of to-dos.

1: clean the bird cages...Check!
2: general pick up...Check!
3: litterboxes
4: vacume...Check!
5: swiffer
6: dremmel/clip all 3 birds nails...need an extra body and a towel for that game ...CHECK! YAY, no more raptor bird!
7: clean and top fish tank and betta bowl. ...Check!

id also like to get some of the cool weather seeds in the ground
and since its so nice out, id LIKE to put jack jack on his leash (yes i have a leash for my parrot) and let him have a some time in the garden (with me right there obviously lol)...Check...he wasnt so sure about the sound of the geese flying over head though LOL!

once i get my own place one of the things id like to do is build a 6ft tall chainlink run with a wire (and part shade cloth) roof off one of the rooms with a door for jack jack to go outside when the weather is nice.
i can still take him for walks of course but it would be nice for him to have a whole outside playspace to sunbathe in and enjoy.

anywho...time for a cuppa tea and then to get my butt in gear.
its too nice a day to spend it procrastinating!

squeee!!!!

so for the past few years ive been talking about getting a medical alert bracelt...ever since my accident...

see i was working at the zoo, it was cleaning day, and i was in the hyena pen...(my faves!!!i know im odd lol) anyway, the guy i was working wiht that day used the wrong cleaner on the concrete, it left the concrete very slick, and i didnt know, he then left the pen...(against the rules) i slipped, hit the back of my head on the concrete pad and began seizing. he didnt know i wasnt out, didnt check and opend the door letting the hyena into the pen..
i belive whole heartedly that i was incredibly lucky that the pack matriarch (in hyena packs the FEMALES rule with an alpha female...) was one i had a strong bond with, id been doing alot of training work with her...because she was the frist out.
she stood by me and when i stopped convulsing she stood directly over my body and wouldnt let any of the other hyena neer. (good because i was bleeding and hyena are quite instinctual when it comes to blood)

i belive she saved my life...
unfortunatly thoguh since then ive been diagnosed with a seizure disorder and it left me with a learning issue...my brain literally doesnt register like it should anymore.

ontop of it all i was diagnosed PCOS when i was 12, and had a partial hysterectomy and am on long term bc to fix the problems thats caused...
and am bi-polar, ocd, anxiety up the wazoo.

i keep a list of my medications and allergies in my purse...but then i realized, 1: i may not have my purse with me...and 2: if im out, there not goign to know its in there...(it wont fit on one card, so i have a peice of paper with it all written on lol)

so ive been thinking about it for a while...

then i had gastric bypass...

now, that surgery came with some pretty strict emergency care rules...
1: NO BLIND NG TUBE...the tube if done wihtout assistance can destroy what little stomach you have left causing all kinds of issues!
2: NO NSAIDS...yup all those wonderfull pain relivers weve come to know and love...like asprin...are a no go for me now
3: NO SUGAR...sometimes emts will start you on a sugar base to bring you to...yup not for me...

so after some prodding i decided you knwo what, i need to do this...

and today it arrived.
i spent a little more than i normally would, BUT it included engraving on both sides and has clasps on both ends of the chain making the tag a seperate thing, meaning i can make new bracelts for it and interchange to match my mood/outfit...
or wear the stainless that i choose with the braclet during normal daily wear. (im allergic to nickle even the very low trace in 24krt gold...so it has to be surgical steel for me lol)

im realy pleased with it...it has my name all pretty like on the front with a pink medical emblem...and on the back it clearly states Gastric bypass no NG tube, No Nsaids, no sugar. see purse for meds, allergies and other!

took 2 weeks to get here (as they custom to order)
but it arrived today and i realy like it...
its much sturdier than i thought it would be :)

this is the style of the one i got...the emblem is light pink though and my name isnt victoria lol.

i like it because it looks like jewelry, not like those traditional med alert braclets. and i like that i can change the band to suit my mood :D

in other news...now you know my medical life story lol.
drove around topless today (convertable) and enjoyed the sunshine :D
got some garlic, and onion sets
some rosmary and basil that will go in the tomatoe beds
3 grape vines
and some young cabbage plants that i hope dont surcumb to frost lol.
still need spinach, lettuce, broccolie and cauliflower in there asap...
tomatoes and peppers will come after frost risk has gone lol.

and i managed to get everything done that i wanted too!!!
all in all feeling rather acomplished today.

tomorrow i need to set up the playpen for the kittens, as they are now starting to explore and try to climb out of the box so i think its time for them to have a little more space.
and i want to try and get the dogs groomed tomorrow :D dey is stinky!

i also impressed yself with dinner, made tilapia with garlic lemon and pepper and broccoli, carrot and cauli in a cheese sauce that even my veggie HATING brother didnt mind :D
it was yummy!

busy busy bumble bee!

Cool bracelet!

I have thought about the no sugar thing and getting that on a medilert type dogtag. After low carbing for over 3 years I think if I have a glucose drip I would explode or something :p

I had thought about getting a medical alert bracelet-I'm allergic to bee stings, but since I've been getting the shots for years now, last couple of times I got stung, I had no reaction. But, that's a nice one.

thats awesome news deb. im allergic to bees too (and wasps/hornets) but cant do epi due to my other meds and issues lol...makes for fun times in bee season...im the one who just freezes with a slight paniced look on my face hoping they decide im not a pretty flower or a threat and go away.

sad part is...i LOVE honey bees and do everything i can to attract the to my garden lol.

i have a friend whos an emt and shes the one that pushed for me to get one...aparently theres alot of issues with emts not checking purses and such for the note cars people with issues generally carry...she said having the med id pretty much ensures they WILL check your purse/id ect for more details.

and of course with me plannign on moving away from home and so far away at that...i figured better to have a little back up lol...

got stuff done today.
onions and garlic are in the ground, feels good to see some green out there too.

whent swimming this morning, always a joy...

and to top the day off, the kittens graduated today, ill get more pictures tonight but right now they are feeding...
see the past few days peanut (cinder) has been trying to climb out of the kitten box...her brothers showed some interest but not as much as she had...but yesterday, they all decided they wanted out, the front of the box is still too high for them to climb out (on purpose lol)...

so today i broke out the puppy playpen and set it up in the livingroom for them...mommas climbing tower is in the playpen so she can easily get in and out...once they start weaning (and climbing) ill move the playpen so the tower is outside the pen
in the pen is the climb tower, a dangly feather toy a catfisher toy and a bed and blankie...

i wasnt expecting much out of them at first, but peanut (cinder) is having a blast, shes the first to realy start playing, she loves the blankie which has fleece tassles and is already trying to climb the post lol
mouse has been stalking the cat fisher (its a weighted base with a mouse ontop so as they bat it it rolls around but always stays relitivly upright...) and littlebear is practicing his pouncing.
im realy happy that there developing so quickly, vet says they are about 5 days more advanced than their age in terms of mental and physical development size wise there normal for their age, but behaviourally they are ahead of the game, especially peanut girly!

momma doesnt seem to mind the chenge of scrnery...shes still not quite sure, keeps trilling at me and at the babies, but shes lay in there with them, fed them and they seem happy so its all good.

im going to continue putting them in their box for the overnights, its high sided and my room can be drafty so id rather give them another week or so draft free.
but during the day they will go in the playpen where they can not only stretch their legs, and get used to a different floor texture, but actually play.

oh and we also have a new "addition" a couple of days ago a white cat showed up, intact male with icy blue eyes...never seen him before but hes got a cut on his nose/by his eye, and is incredibly skinny.
we ignored him day one...but day 2 mum felt bad and gave him one of the eggs shed broken...the yesterday, she gave him cat food...
hes not around during the day that weve seen but seems to come back and sleeps under the back deck.
hes very pretty, very talkative and quite sweet, but he wont let you pick him up...
so im going to see if i can get a trap on loan and capture him...he needs to see a vet, needs to be neutered and realy needs a home...so im hoping our no kill shelter will take the poor guy, hes incredibly pretty...
white with 2 grey blobs on the top of his head by each ear.
ive named him Traveler for now.
