So, it's been a couple days (apparantly) since I've been in here, and this might be kinda late, but I thought I'd post my experience for you
So, half a month after graduation I moved out of the house and into a house I was renting. Then the bf of a friend moved in. Three months later I moved back into my parents house. What followed was several years of bouncing in and out of my parent's house for one reason or another. I finally got out and stayed out, but stayed in the same town I grew up in and was only maximum twelve blocks away from their house Got sick, got medical bills. Finally got incredibly tired of being in the same town, with the same people, and having a "safety net" there, (plus is sucked being the only gay in the village) and moved in a with a friend a state and a half away. Several months later moved out and into a place with my then BF, bills kept piling up because I was all "oooh, i'm sick, heal me!" and then I dropped the BF turned ex fiance, lived on my own, got a new bf, got a new roommate, filed for bankruptcy, moved to colorado, and while we may be living on the family property we pay our own utilities, pay rent which is half of the loan payment each month, and I have horrible credit and I am incredibly happy about that
It's tempting to try and get a loan for this that or the other, but really, it's either something that we will save money for, and budget, or it isn't something that we need. I would really like to have a truck of my own, but I ain't getting a new car loan for one. I'll wait until I find a used truck for several hundred that I can't drive on the interstate and call it good Definitly, keep the firm hand with the rents and friends. Some love you and don't want to say goodbye, and some are just peh.
*hug* good luck on your trip, I hope you find everything you are looking for!
(yesh i'm long winded! Sorry! )
thanks...im actually getting super excited...
heard form 1 of many realtors this morning, and right now were lined up to see 2 properties in the paris/big sandy area on april 14th...both look like they have potential, but the paris property is a mobile, so it will depend on if it son a perment foundation (but the damned thing has 7 1/2 acres of land *droools*
plannign on seeing those 2, plus anything the agent can find and then spending the rest of the day checking out paris itself, ive heard good AND bad things about the area, but they seem to have alot of festivities, (ie the fish fry)
trying to make arrangments with another realtor to s 1 in pulaski, 1 in waynesboro, 1 in luts and 2 in minor hill hopefully on the 15th.
that one requires more driving, and will likely be a full day of looking at houses, we'll probbaly stop for lunch AND dinner along the route that day.
and still waiting to hear back from 2 more realtors reguarding properties in cedar hill and portland
and 2 other listings in parsons and finger (which are a litle further out but both houses look realy deacent.
weve also got plans to spend at least 1 day sight seeing in nashville (opryland hotel for thier gardens, and nashville zoo)
boy oh boy...
in other news, weve also all decided to put together our mommys birthday money and treat her to a morning at the day spa the day before our trip...shhhh she doesnt know yet
in other news, we managed to get the fence and gate finnished yesterday and the potting bench so today i bought a spool of fishing line to make some small trellises from bamboo...and so i can fix my wind chime...
i love using fishingline for these projects becuase it lasts forever...(just be carefull when your done with it...its hazardous to critters...)
and to top it all off, theres all kinds of signs of life out in the garden, we have green stuff!!!
i just had grilled chicken with steamed asparagus for dinner...
ive never had asparagus before...
it was the green giant steam in the bag, and i think i overcooked it, the box said 3 1/2 to 6 mins and my microwave sucks so i did it for 5...but i think 3 1/2-4 mins would have been enough. i added some butter and garlic...and despite being a little too mushy for me...it was actually quite nice!
i will definatly be having asparagus again...next time ill try fresh
see...this is a big thing for me as before surgery i didnt like many veggies...
pretty much, letuce, corn, tomatoes...
so since surgery ive been trying to find new options...
broccoli i hated...not anymore...
cauliflower yick...yup now i like it (but i prefer it in cheesy sauce)
and aparently asparagus is nice too lol.
who knew!
got some seeds in the ground and put the peas and beans in, they were looking very sorry for themselves in their pots, so i dont know if theyll survive...but i figured they had a better chance out in the dirt than sitting in a box in the garage.
well flights are getting booked tongiht, dad wants the points so hes going to pay for it all on his amex and im going to give him the cash for my share once the bill comes in (otherwise if i give him the check now...itll get spent on something other than its desired purpose and then hell complain when the bill comes lol)
were going to be flying out of white plains in ny, into chicago, and from there into nashville...i dont think theres a single airline from the east coast that goes direct to nashville lol.
its an early morning flight on weds, but thats good cause well have the afternoon to get checked in and relax a little rather than arriving late and missing an entire day.
our flight home will be on the 20th, leaving at 10:30am and getting home 4:30pm which works well for dad picking us up from the airport and means were not going to be waiting round all day at the airport or with our luggage ect waiting for a later flight...
were going to be staying in a mainstays hotel, its a few dollars more a night than the super 8 but its got a full kitchen AND free breakfast, which will save us a fortune on eating out.
ive booked a couple of showings...
id love thoughts and opinions on some of these so im lining here
Big Sandy
i like this one, needs a decorators touch...which i LOVE doing anyway so no worries there, im told good things about the big sandy/paris areas, and dad will like it because of the big lake in the area lol.
its right on the cusp of my max and been on the market 2 months...so we'll have to see...
Paris
this one is a mobile and theres no more pictures...and its a little more than my max but its been on the market for 4 months and with almost 8 acres...*drools*
condition and price flexibility will definatly dictate on this one...i dont mind a mobile, but it has to be a GOOD mobile.
another in Paris
this one looks cute, it wasnt origionally on the list but the realtor said since well be in the area might as well looky cause the price is right and supposedly its on a little over an acre.
ill see all of those in one day, itll end up being about a 1/2 day trip which will give us an evening in nashvill, hoping to find a good place with open mike or a live act that night. (or spend a few hours in paris)
Pulaski
ill be honest, this one is one of my faves...its right neer the top of my budget, but its been on the market almost 5 months, so i could probably knock them down (and its outside pulaski city limits so no restrictions
the only down side is its a SMALL house, under 800sqft lol. compared to some of the others...but its cute!
Minor hill
its only on an acre but theres no restrictions...and its big enough that i could do alot with it...
then theres the other listings im trying to arrange to see... Finger
i Realy like this one for some reason...and its got almost 4 1/2 acres...its a little further out so if the realto showing me the minorhill/pulaski listings cant show it to me ill need to find a 3rd realtor lol
waynesboro
i LOVE this little house and 5 1/2 acres to boot...but its over my budget and only about 4 months on the market...im wondering how much theyd come down on it...
Lutts
anothier one which is cute, needs a little tlc and the price is right.
Clifton
this ones over y budget and only been on for about 3 months, but aint it cute?!
Darden
i dunno quite why...but i like this one lol.
cedar hill
this one would have to go through yet another agent as its in a completly different area from the others (but less than an hour fro nashville) and its cute, the price is right too...
so yeah...working my butt off this weekend to try and book in those that i dont have lined up with a realtor yet...im trying to do this in as few agents as possible...
i DO have a buyers agent who will be dealing with all the paperwork, but she cant actually show me most of these houses becaus ethere all in various counties that she doesnt usually work lol.
yup i have to be arkward...
but i think working with a buyers agent will definatly get me a better deal than just working with the listing agents...
im soooo excited...but not getting my hopes up pictures dont tell you enough to realy get a good idea on condition...i am taking my camera and the FHA checklist with me (even if i go conventional, its actually a good list of things to look for lol)...and before any offer is even considered itll be pending a thorough inspection which i WILL be present for...id rather spend a couple of hundered and have the property inspected even if it does pass fha apraisal (if i go that route) than end up regretting it later.
but im also not expecting the taj ma hal either lol
am i the only person on this planet that LIKES house hunting? everyone keeps telling me im crazy...that house hunting is the most horrible thing ever...but i LOVE it...(ill love it even more when i find a place) but i seriously could spend weeks going house to house and never get tired of it lol.
but yeah...thats the thinking.
now im trying to figure out good places to stop for lunch, and things to see and do while we are there...
im definatly going to spend at least 1/2 a day at the nashville zoo...ive told mum she doenst have to come...but well its a given...its me...and a zoo...
and i plan on taking her to the oryhouse hotel, to check out its indoor river and botamical gardens...
id like to catch an open mike or live act one night too...
belive me, i know, thats why im leaving Connecticut...
i was talking to my lending agent and he was asking how much there abouts id be paying a month in taxes...
i told him it would depdnd but anything from 150-400 a YEAR...he goes, a month? NO...PER YEAR! Lmao...he didnt belive me untill i sent him some links to some of the properties i was looking at...LMAO.
in BAD news, whent to book the flights today and the prices have gone up neer $200 for the flights...
so i did a quick search and found new flights...means were going on the 20th and staying till the 27th (were not realy "easter" people and that would put us in the area for the start of the fish fry festival in paris...) it sucks il have to wait another week BUT its better on the price, we got an even better deal on the hotel and it gives me another week to lock in/arrange veiwings so i know EXACTLY what to plan out for those days as well as get a better idea of some more "fun" stuff to do.
it also means mum gets to be home for her birthday, theres not quite as much of a rush to book her spa visit and ill have another payday going in before the trip (i get payed the 3rd weds of the month...)
it also means i might be able to get a behind the scenes tour at the zoo *dances* i contacted the nashville zoo director, explained that i used to be a zookeeper and she said it was a shame i was comming so early...shes away next week, but if it was after the 23rd shed love to give me a behind the scenes tour! you have no idea how exciting that is to me lol.
everyone likes my little houses then aint they all cute!
