last night was a little dicey, for anyone in the aras surrounding tn im sure you know too well...
we got lucky in nashville, some good storms overnight but no tornados...
today we got to the airport early as i wasnt sure how the roads would be after the storms and our flight was delayed by an hour (late getting out of chicago)
then we were all on the plane and a storm started comming through that clsoed the ramp...luckily only for about 1/2 hour though.
got to chicago quickly, but still missed the connecting flight, but thankfully the woman on the desk at nashville back up booked us for the next flight out so we had to pass an hour at the airport but no big deal there...
that flight was 20 mins late then we ended up sitting on the tarmack for almost an hour because the waterhose got stuck, then some nasty weather came through that made us wait for ramp time again...
the landing at westcheste was a little bumpy, nasty cross wind comming through, but we made it on the ground safe and sound and back to the house in 1 peice lol.
i was greated by some very happy critters LOL!
the critters got fed and watered well, BUT my room STINKS, got a feeling the litterboxes didnt get scooped for a week then my sister tried to cover it by giving the box a quicu scoop yesterday...
*shakes head*
so tomorrow i get to spend the day cleaning this place top to bottom...and i think im going to bleach the litterboxes too...*Pe-Ewww*
in good news though, it looks like ill be putting in an offer on the lutts house by the end of the week...assuming my mortgage guy gets back to me...
ill post pictured for you guys tomorrow...
but now...now i think its time for bed...its been a very LONG day!
Sorry you hit crappy weather in Tenn. We had it earlier in Arkansas. At least your safe. A little baking soda underneath the new litter might help that smell.
well...finally getting around to putting my pictures into photobucket lol.
first of all here is my house of choice, im working on getting that preapproval letter and making an offer...
its in Lutts TN has 2 beds and 1 1/2 baths on 2.37 acres, of which about 3/4 of that is open and rolling and the rest is wooded along the back of the property....
assuming all goes the way im planning it to go...
this would all be mine!
the back porch...this porch needs new steps (right now just got blocks) and most of the deck boards replaced, but underneath it all looks pretty good. id probbaly screen it in to make a lovely little place to sit in the evenings
the garage, its huge and wired for electric, the left car port has been boxed in in plywood.
the livingroom into the kitchen and the main bath (the bedrooms are to the left)
as you can see, incredibly dated, but nothing a new floor and a good coat of paint wouldnt cure i plan on taking out the spindles and fixing the breakfast bar thats on the opposite side (in the kitchen) to open the whole thing up.
the bathroom is also where the laundry room is located )
the kitchen, the cabinates need paint and new hardware...and eventually id like to put in new counter tops (the cabinates are solid wood...) id like to keep the chicken boarder and it looks funny because of the angle, but there is a gap between the bar and the pantry in that conrer so the bottom door does open properly lol.
bed 1:
oh yeah, more 80's panneling, this room would need new panneling as theres holes in it, possibly from the fha inspector trying to see if it was insulated, and it is...but thats an easy fix. this one has a half bath and its where the fuse box is located. this would likely be the guest/craft room.
bedroom 2 has the same panneling (though in better shape) and no bath, i think a good coat of paint would make it look brand new!
fro the road, the front deck has had most of its deck boards replaced, and a new set of steps its nice and shaded but not overly shaded and has a nice slope, its not too steep but great for drainage.
id be adding gutters and rain barrels front and back and the front door would be painted high gloss barn RED!
imagine along the foundation and essentially that whole fornt yard planted with flowers for cutting
i would replace the makeshift railing with proper deck rails for safety too.
from the property line, the roof is only 3 years old
the barn roof however would need new metal as soon as i could afford...
or at least a good coat of rustolium paint.
standing in the same spot towards the back conrer of the property, it goes back into those trees
i want it...BAD...
the property has an ant problem...just little black sugar ants but alot of them, so that would get a good treatment of DE, and there was a number of carpenter bees that id have to take care of, didnt see any holes, and they seemed more interested in bumping into eachother around the "barn" than the house...but i would definatly treat under the deck when i replaced the boards and then around the barn as well...
dont want to kill the males, there harmless and good polinators, but i dont want them eating my structure lol.
i would have neighbors, theres one next door and another across the street then a few off a side street next door to them.
today has been a planting day and we now have 4 4x8 beds fll to capacity with yummy goodness growing...
this makes me very happy, now to just hope everyhting comes in the way it should
tried a few new things for this year including eggplant, zuccini and crookneck squash, and of course all the old staples form tomatoes to cabbage to lettuce and spinach...
even dotted some herbs in there too, hopefully will help keep some of the pests at bay, rosemary by the gate, chives, cilantro and basil...mostly planted things i know we eat and eat alot of...
so YAY!
now ive got to start working on the flower beds...
we have a new bed to go in along the front of the fence to the farmers patch (as my dad calls it) so thats the "most" work...
i know ive got some hosta that could do with dividing to go in the shaded part, as well as some apple, spear and chocolate mint that has run amok...(i usually plant mint in a burried terracotta pot to keep it "in line" but mum planted it last year and well...you know how mint is...) so i might take some of those up and move them over that direction (and properly confine them this time LOL!) im thinking id like to kind of have this flower bed as partially edible as well as ornamental to kind of blurr the line between the farmers patch and the garden, but i dont want to hide the fence completly as its a cute white picket fence, so im thinking of mabe an elderberry in the slightly shaded corner...or mabe another large growing berry bush (its sloped there, mostly shaded and the fence is just a bit short so theres a gap there id like to hide)
so ive got some reserching to do there, i prefer perenials as mum doesnt have to worry about replacing them.
the other beds need weeding and re mulching, itll be another couple of weeks before i know if theres any bare spots that need filling in...i think ive got some work on the big bed to do as well as the 2 new last year beds that are in mostly shade.
(coral bells, hosta and astibille have been good buddies in there lol.)
all in all though the garden is looking nice, and the grass seemed to spring to life overnight, it needs mowing, but im going to try and convince dad to set his blade a little higher than usual when he mows, our grass if very sparce due to us being on a sand hill with only about 2" of topsoil...so im hoping by leaving it just a little longer itll look more lush than it actually is.
im thinking im going to make him buy some of those areating shoes and then well give the lawn a good feeding and overseed it too, see if we can get it looking real good this year.
im TRYING to teach them and prep the yard for my move...ive worked hard and put alot of my own money into this garden so far and still more to do so it needs to be properly tended so it can be enjoyed for years to come.
im also practicing the 'squish as much into one area as possible so mum doesnt have to weed as much' method...everyone tells me during the summer when its in bloom and fiulled out that it looks like an "englihs cottage garden" so i guess im doing something right LOL.
i LOVE plants
id be a landscape arcitect if i could, but i can never get my ideas onto paper...i just see it in my head and do it and it all comes together...if i try and draw it out though...forget it lol.
but yeah, busy busy day...
tomorrow im going to clean out the coop completly for mum, we do a deep litter method, and give it a full clean spring and before winter, but mum cant do it because of her rotator cuff issue...so thats going to be my job this time...told them though, my brother and sister are going to have to buck it up, when im not around its there job to help out with all this stuff.
otherwise, not much going on. waiting to hear from a mortage officer in the tn branch of wells fargo so i can get the hud financing aproval sorted so i can get an offer in on MY house
the mortgage guy here in ct told me it wouldnt be a problem, he can help me with out of state (and he knew i was hoping for HUD or FHA...) then when i emaield him about the house...he informs me he cant help out of state with hud or fha and gives me a number to the tn office *gah* now im playing telephone tag with a broker down there, and if i dont hear anything by monday i may just go with a different hud approved lender.
citi does homepath mortgages and i have a credit card with them so mabe they might be a better choice.
i refuse to loose my "dream" home (it will be once im finnished with it ) because wells fargo cant get their act together.
well got some more planting done this morning, home depot is having a for $10 sale on all their 1 gal perenials so we bought enough to do the fenceline garden we wanted to put in, it looks very pretty in blues, reds and various shades of green
still need to de weed the other existing beds, and remulch then all before summer gets here...
other than that though...its looking good.
this afternoon i have to clean out the coop...*ugh* lol, i dun wanna!
but i need to so ill get over it mum cant do it and noone else is going to so...
but first to lure the chickens into the smaller run so i dont have to worry about escaping hens!
feeling very acomplished...got the coop done! yay! dad helped...which was awesome, i shoveled and he took care of wheeling the barrow lol it worked out well!
i also managed to get the smaller run sorted, see last year we had a drainage issue over the winter...so mum and dads solution was to dump straw and shavings in there...the problem came when it didnt get shoveled out and over the past couple of months with the chickens foot traffic, and the cold and wet, a solid mat of yick...so i attacked it with a pitchfork and got all the thatching out exposing the good soft dirt underneath so the chickens can dig in there again...
so ive been outside most of the day and quite happy about it...except that my hands are now realy dry and moisurizer doesnt seem to be helping.
oh and im now hungry...yes hungry indeed...
new kitten pictures comming later tonight too as long as my camera behaves itself...they look like tiny little cats now instead of odd little aline hamsters! and they are in the "attack the pant leg" stage of life where there claws also grow like wolverines and no matte rhow many times you trim those little daggers they manage to grow fast enough to cause issues by the next mornings "attack of the leg" session!
