well we reached 106...
were now slowly cooling back off...the fan didnt seem to realy do anything more than turn it into a convection oven so i think ill be taking that back tomorrow, i can use that money for something much more worth while (like Tiles)
Quite honestly the buns seemed to activly avoid the fan by hiding behind their little hidey boxes...
buff i know the feeling, my zipcode is forcasted for 104 the next 2 days then 102 on sunday...but we got through today whihc means we can get through the rest of this.
Ive got rowans LAST baby going home tomorrow morning, meeting neer the place i need to take the fan back to so can do that all in 1 shot.
that means a little less worry on the worst bank.
I can do a little bit of moving around with the mini rex and put the doe on the far left end in the lower cage (the left hutches get less sun than the right) and that should help then over the next few days to...
Whew.
there not drinking much though and that has me worried too so i think im going to toss them each an apple slice at bedtime, cant have alot, but its something "juicy" that will help wiht any electrolite loss too...
then i just need to focus on bluebell and blackberries babies and then the rabbitry can go into "summer mode"
borrowed my friends post pounder today (as mine is still MIA) so im thinking im going to have to get up EARLY one morning next week to get those in before the heat gets too high and once the mini rex pair go i can focus on the fence and getting the guinea house built too. there so cute and not anywhere neer as messy as chickens, but there going to outgrow that little cage pretty quickly lol.
tonight ive got 1 peice of pork left so im thinking of doing a stirfry mabe, i like stirfry cold too so its somethign i can just scoop out and eat for lunch. and ive got LOTS of eggs to add to it, fresh banana peppers and some carrots and onion and stuff so it should be good.
feels SOOO much later than 5:30 though!
there doing good, starting to get thier "big geese" voices slowly but surely but there moutling right now so there looking a little scruffy lol. i LOVES them though! untill that is im trying to get stuff done and they are trying to eat my hair of pulling on my t-shirt lol.
once im SURE i have a pair (im told i do but ill not know untill laying season lol) then im planning on adding another female saddleback, i LOVE them.
the guinea keetsare the same on the "loving" right now, we'll see what happens as they get bigger, they dont "like" me they all hide in a corner, but seriously they make noises that remind me of little canary or finch right now with thier happy little peeping
got a feeling my first forays with incubation are going to be guinea eggs, the keets seem to sell quite well...
today was a little crazy, had an apointment this morning, then got up late so didnt get the goats or rabbits fed untill closer to 9:30 and it was already HOT by then...
the goats dont seem to care about the heat...the rabbits...yeah...i think there all praying for winter! lol.
were doing ok though...muddling through.
then i finnished feeding the rabbits and am hit by the smell of manure...and there next to me is ruby and shes GREEN...she must have found a patch of duck poop and just whent to town, it was all over her face all ove rher back
dozer and jasper both seem to like bunny poop, but at least that doesnt CAKE on ya...duck/goose poop...yup thats rubies eu de parfume choice of the day so before i could even have breakfast i had to give her a bath...*rolls eyes* then after that checked the temps and whent and put ice in with all the buns.
and im pretty much JUST sitting down to check my online stuff...WHEW.
its already a fels like of 102 degrees, its going to be a rough one today with the new estimated high of 108 (yesterday was 106 andthey were saying today should only be 104...yup it whent up) with a "feels like" of 110 on the heat index. i swear, when the temps drop to 95 were all gonna be cold!
so that means todays plan is fairly none existant. might go scrub some more gourds later, but its even hot in the shade so itll probably be more a day of chill out, check the bunnies frequently and hope for the best.
Hope everyone else is faring well...even CT is heading up to the high 90's this weekend and there FREEKING out already...and worse there going to have t-storms comming with their high temps..
as much as we realy need rain here...with tripple digit temps im kinda glad its dry right now...the humidity is definatly managable (theres barely any) but in ct there going to be having 60+% humidity and almost tripple digit heat...EWWWWWW
well we hit 108 in the backyard...the official temp for my closest weahte station had a high of 107 and a feel like of 112...
however...everyone survived it today, im not entirely sure how, but i ust whent out every 2 hours with fresh ice bottles and the hose pipe and misted everyone down they were NOT happy about it, but i think the misting helped.
ive got 2 bunnies comming with me to the show tomorrow morning going to a new home
another 2 bunnies going home either tomorrow afternoon or sunday...
and the mini rex pair is also supposed to go home on sunday *fingers crossed*
otherwise things are going SLOWLY, sunday i need to weigh up the maters i have and do whatever it is im going to do with them based on that (ive no idea how much pasta sauce ill get but im pretyt certain that is the directon they are heading...
lol.
this heat is just a tad brutal, even jasper whos a serious heat worshiper is feeling it...
LOL, i might take a few, i dont eat them but ive got one in the freezer for tomorrow evenngs bunny snack! if they like it im sure theyll be happy to have some more
and YAY pallets! no rush on those though, id realy rather you not melt!
