:love Awww.... those kittens are SO CUTE! Those 'smiles' are adorable! But, you might want to keep an eye on that last little girl, she looks like she's practicing her pole dancing skills  Lilly and Poppy look really happy with their new digs! Rocky sleeps just like that - but he uses his tail as a loin cloth

lol, she'd fit in the smallest flat rate shipping box...poke a few holes tell them its a new breed of chick lol...meowing chickens...yeah thats right :p

this morning is kinda dull and dreary...but honeatly i dont mind it. its cool enough right now to get stuff done.
right now its breakfast time.

after that...well i might try and get the 6 bank hutch dismantled, but im a little worried about about breaking it down and it all getting soaked...
so im just not sure yet. i know what i need to finnish it, so i think im better off going getting all the materials i need to build the coop, THEN once ive got everything on hand, dismantle the hutch and that way i can just start building as the weather permits.

if i dont do dismantle today im going t see if my frined E will let me borrow her waterbath canner....i dont have a pot large enough, but i do have a draw full of maters that are just going to go bad if i dont do something with them soon...so it may end up being a canning day instead.

so yeah.
should be a fairly simple day i think.

well 8 lbs of tomatoes have been blanched, peeled and are currently in a big pot cooking down...(which i knwo will take forever lol)
i know ill probbaly only get MABE 2 pints out of the batch once i turn it into sauce BUT...least its ALL mine...all 8lbs of tomatoes came from my Roma plants before the lack of rain made them decide to quit livign...

im prety sure im NEVER getting the smell of tomatoes out of my hands lol.
and there MUST be an easier way of skinning and de-seeding tomatoes...anyone?! anyone at all?!
lol

day 2 of the goats in their new pen and things seem to be going well, they were much bolder today venturing further out into the open...untill it started raining then panic set in that the great being above was pouring acid on them and there currenlty hiding out in thier house and complaining...(the rain stopped about 1/2 an hour ago LMAO)

figure ill cook down the tomatoes tonight and by tomorrow they should be ready to jar up and waterbath. borrowed a nice deep pot from a friend which should hold 4 jars (which should be WAY more than i actually need once there all cooked down...lol.

anywho...thats pretty much been my day. nothign exciting.

as a side note does anyone have any ideas for a working fly trap...i tried sugar water in a bottle and didnt get a single catch...but ive got sooo many nuisance flies....House is clean, theres no odd smells, im keeping ntop of the dishes so that doesnt attract them, trash it taken out regularly so it doesnt start to smell (going to scrub out the trashcan tonight to see if that helps any...
I dont know where there comming from, how there getting in but theres so many of them. and i think there like that beastie in hellboy...kill 1 and 2 more pop up in its place!

While I was at a yard sale, I saw a Foley food mill for $5. Didn't pick it up, because I have a strainer that I'm cray about, but you may be able to find a mill down by you cheap. Makes peeling/de-seeding much easier!

We have fly swatters all over the house. See a fly, swat it. We don't trap them. Tried a trap in Ice Creams hutch last year - it was useless :/

food mill...why didnt i think of that?!

the maters are down about 50% could probably go another 25% less fluid on that to be a nice pasta sauce....

things im going to be investing in once moneys is a little better
1: a food stick blender
2: a food mill or similar item.

the house smells AWESOME though and i havent added any seasonings yet, (want to add them once its reduced)

i think im almost figured for wood for the guinea coop. budget dictates that im going to have to build the pen smaller to start with and expand next month...
but it will mean that i can move the keets outside and theyll still have more room than they have now.
theyll have a 4x4 house with a 4x4 pen underneath for now, and then next month ill add an 8x4 pen...

so fingers crossed on this little project. hoping to get it done this week cause the keets are getting big lol.

well todays plan is to go get wood to get this guinea coop built.
need to double check what i think i need vs what i actually need...and should be good to go.
i THINK with the new way im envisioning it (without the additioanl 8 ft run right now) i can get away with just buying some nails for the roof shingles, and four 2x4's...
im not entirely decided on how to do the exit door yet...ramp or just a jump up (itll only be 24" off the ground and they can make that easily...)
so im going to do a quick search online for other peoples guinea coops and see what other folks have done as that will dictate hardware needed for that part.

i think i have enough of everythign else to complete stage 1 of the project.
next month then ill just expand the actual run.

otherwise, no other plans for today, want to go get the supplies and if weather co-operates id like to dismantle the hutch ready then hopefully i can get it built tomorrow...*fingers crossed*

well got what i need to do part 1 of the guinea coop...
the run will definatly have to come next month...
but i tloos like i wont be getting much of anything done today, its POURING. it took me almost 2 hours to get home from lowes (a 30 min trip normally) due to crazy weather, my car is a v6 and way too light realy for that kind of power, which means she hydroplanes lie its her JOB...i swear sneeze and she'll hydroplane on you... add that to the fact that on its fastest the whipers couldnt eep up and lights are retty muhc useless in that ind of rain i pulled off the road a few times and listend to the radio untill the rain eased up, then id go a little further, repeat.

Im british im used to the rain, and im GOOD at driving in the rain...so this may soudlie a ridiculous method, BUT i pride mysef on knowing WHAT MY CAR DOES in given situation and hydroplaning is something she does well and not something i enjoy fighting with so why risk it.

Im that crazy person that when the heavy rain hits ill put my hazards on and give myself miles of stopping space and yell to myself baout the idiots who dont have lights on or are following too close ect..
people dont give rain the respct it deserves and it doesnt take much to mae a wet road a very dangerous situation.

anywho. home, safe and sound, slightly soggy...the ducs and gee are crazy, i swear the ducs are dancng in it...(suprisingly the geese dont seem as enthusiastic as the ducks about rain and mud puddles) the goats are safely tucked up in thier house hiding from it...and yeah...
I quite enjoy a good rainy day truth be told.

Glad you made it home safe! When youngest DD was about 8 we totalled a 99 Ford F-150 in rain on the way back from Louisiana on I-55 just North of Jackson MS. Hydroplaning in a big ole truck reaaaalllllly sucks. We spun about 4 times before we went off the interstate backwards spun again, and plowed into a couple trees in the median. DD was asleep in the back seat, but on impact she woke screaming....like to have never calmed her down. Eldest and her were fine, I toted a shiner from the airbag for a week or so. We were sooooo blessed to have come out practically unscathed, but we are all scared to death to ride in pouring down rain now. I always pull over when I can't see, or drive reallllly slowly. Cars pass me all the time when the rain starts, because I drop it down and poke along.
