so far so good but everything has that "glossy" look about it so we'll see, heats on (and gas) and ive got candles at the ready just in case.
keeping my fingers crossed on everything else lol.

ive just about given up on the guinea...they are currently out there in the rain in the cold everything is icing up quite nicely and once again they REFUSED to go home...i called i shook their food, i even took my coat off thinking thats whats spooking them...
nope they just plain REFUSE so once again they will be spening the night in a tree. ive double checked and CURRENTLY the fence is on and working, but if we loose power...well lets jut hope therenot stupid enough to fly down to hatever ate white guinea if it decides to hit the guinea buffet again.
short of finding a huge net and chasing them around the back yard theres nothing i can do at this point and im realy annoyed at them so im putting it into the hands of the powers at be...and if they get eaten its a few less outhes to feed i guess.

fiver the bunny is holding her own in the rabbit colony though it seems, though everyone was hiding when i did bedtime check.

and yeah thats about all i got right now
*wanders off mutterig something about stupid guinea-cicles!

Hope you're OK tonight.

And I hear ya on the guineas. Had a bunch almost commit suicide while I was driving home. They started out in the road in front of me. But, I was able to stop in time. And, they were running towards me, so it wasn't that they didn't see me.

mine dont seem to chase cars but if one pulls into the drive they will surrouned it if it sits there long enough theyll move out of the way when you start to drive (assuming you go slowly) but seriously birds...its a huge metal besty that will squish you...

Im pretty sure the only reason theyve survived this long is shere luck

Hope you don't lose power and I hope your guineas don't 'try to die' any faster than they already are! No stoopid guinea-cicles!

Glad you're okay. Looks like we may be stuck in for a couple or three days, especially on my curvy road that has complete shaded spots allllll winter  It took 3 weeks for our curve down here to melt off last time :p

well this morning the only guinea i knew for sure was female is gone. no signs of a struggle, no feathers...but the others were always chasing her off so she may have just decided to move to a new farm...
this morning ive got 3 guineas in the back yard, 2 who are definatly male (blue and pied) and the other white one who looks liek a female but sounds like a male..., they didnt freeze last night but are looking realy raggedy in terms of fethers (muddy/dirty)
im going to be putting some serious thought into wether or not i want to get more or just have some fat lazy chickens around to hep keep the ticks down...
i LIKE the guineas for what they do (and like watching them) but this is riduclous...

everyone else made it through the night no problems, bunnies got fresh straw this morning so they are hapy and cozy again
i could do with adding 1/2 a bale to the goat house and splitting the other 1/2 in theduck and goose houses so may get that done in a little while.
had to cut some branches back this morning that were laying on the electric due to the ice, but ice is a suprisingly good conductor, got zapped 3 times in the process but got the lines cleared off and safe.
the goats are eating privit pops this morning, there actually quite happy because leaves they couldnt reach before are now so laen with ice evrything back to goat height again.

only 1 egg form the ducks this morning again, they seem to go in waves, ill get 3-4 a day for 2 weeks, then 1 a day for a week then nothing for 2 weeks...
on their next speed up period ill probably pull some to play with in the incubator figure if i set a batch end of januay they should be hatched and ready end of february an thats enough time to put a batch in for an end of march/easter run.
its only a small incubator, but if things go well this year selling babies ill probably invest in something larger for next year... (or an army of cochin hens lol)

otherwise nothign planned for today, the road seems fine but my car is currently encapsulated in ice, ive got nowhere i NEED to be untill friday (and even that will be cancled if the roads are yucky on friday (suposed to snow some on thursday)

realy looking forward to some nice blue skys...even if its not WARM id realy like to see some blue again...though i will adit as much as i hate ice...the trees look so pretty.

Dang guineas - sorry... :(

I'm about to try to put goose eggs in the incubator. She's still laying but showing no signs of wanting to get broody yet. I'm afraid she's gonna burn herself out before she's ready to brood since she started laying so early ths year....grrrrr

no goosey eggs yet (but im not 100% sure i have a sexed pair, i THINK i do but yeah lol)
i love my geese...

the guineas...well i just dont know.
im pretty sure their hatched with the sole purpose of committing suicide before they are a year old.
all the money that goes into raising the stupid things and they just vanish!
im prety sure ill probaly stick to big fat round chickens in the future...preferbaly ones seriously unsuited to flying/jumping that will be contained by deer netting lol.
people around here shoot free chickens that wander into their yards because they scratch up the flowers/vegie beds, the guineas dont do remotly the kind of damage that chickens do...but if i cant keep the supid things alive ill just have to find a way to keep the chickens contained to my property.
i need somehting that eats ticks and fleas.
