me too, my dads smitten from thepictures i sent him last night...
dads ALWAYS loved pigs, they were his absolute favorite farm animals and even now they hold a big soft spot for him (and when he finally gets his land he wants piggies)
and at ome point in the night somehting must have clicked in their brains...they slept through untill about 6:30 when i heart them stt sueeking and rustling about...figured no better time than the present got up and offererd them the bottle...we have progress...but they couldnt figure out the suck thing and were just chewing, so i put what was left into a little bowl and after a few tries of biting thebowl they bothtook a couple of sips before gtting antsy.
bout 8am is when id want to be feeding them untill weaned...so at 8 i mixed up a bowl of milk and baby rice (the baby rice helps prevent scours and provides iron) and yeah...lesson...never assumejust because shes the runt that shes going to getpushed around, rosemary pushed sage 1/2 way across the kitchen lol. so i split breakfast into 2 bowls...lots of milky/ricy feet and noses (and my arms and pants) later they both got a little more than 1/4 cup of food (whihc is right around (mabe a little more) thn they are upposed to get at this age. (pigs this age eat little and often)
its messy, but they got it an it shoudl be fairly smooth sailing from here.
if we ignore the fact that these little smarty pigs are already figuring tings out...i have the playpen hooked to the crate...guess who figured out if she lifted neer the crate she coul open it...its not tied to the cabinate handle as well as hooked to the crate LOL!
They are too cute. I was telling DH on Saturday I wanted a piggie trouble is I can't have one in the "city". Then he said well lets buy a couple of acres and get a horse too. Hahaha he must have taken leave of his mind because the only pasture he likes to play on is at the golf course. We do love bacon though.
you could always go mini...many cities allow them as "pets" lol.
in othernews...today was a LONG day
the good: picked up a pack and ply for future puppies/babies...itll be eaiser than trying to block things off
got my in town bills paid (just 1 left to drop in the mail box)
picked up none skid bowls to make piggy meal times a little less messy (and they were onclearance!)
and piggly wiggly is going to start saving their spoilt/bruised/pst prim produce for me! i can pic up 4 days a week nd theyll clal me if they dont think theres enough to make it worth thetrip
i figure even though the pigs arnt on solids yet, much of t can also go to the bunnies and ducks/geese too...and what cant can start asmall compost pile.
teres 2 more rocery stores in town i cn sk, but both were missing their mnagers today and the people plying maager didnt know wht the rules were...ive got to go bck into town o weds for my therapy pt and to buy feed soill try again...
even if i can only get from piggly thats still a big help!!!
and my new dr seems pretty cool/ontop of things
the bad:
i spent 3 hours at the dr...
got there a little early so baout 30 mins of that is my own damned fault...but then there was a wait, then i finally get in and waited some more...finally got to see the dr...
i might have "issues"
so heres the deal, my GYNO saw my enlarged thyroid...
called tody recults on the TSH were 1.268 in "normal" range...but that he still wasnt happy about the swelling so ask my dr about it...
so i did.
he checked my thyroid and yes its enlrged, definatly and not in a "some people hve a bigger thyroid than others" kind of way.
i told him that my result came back in normal range (normal range is from .035 to sometwhere around 5so theres a BIG variance) and that for years ive been saying somethings not right with my thyroid and drs constantly telling me its "slightly sluggish" and what the hell does that mean anyway...
his responce was "it means there idiots and like to paint eveyone with the same brush...drs seem to forget that "normal" for one person is NOT normal for another.
we then talked about my b12 issues...
and he did a toe test (ive not got much feeling in my toes....)
so right now heres where we stand...
i need tests...nd plenty of them lol.
blod test tody to check thyroid and the b's
thursday i go in for thyroid ultrasound
and friday i go in for a bloo glucose test (thats going to SUCK as im sugar intolerant, anything over 15 grams and i get SICK!)
he HAS to do the blood glucose test to rule out that as the cause for the numb toes because if its NOT diabetese (which since hainv ghte bypss which "cures" diabetese it cant be) then hell need further testing, and inusrance wont cover the furher testing without first ruling out the "likely" cause...
but hes going to track the sugar with a 3 hour glucose test...im going to puke, get dizzy and feel like CRAP...fun times...once diabetese is rulled out he can procede.
he THINKS that im having a severe b12 issue, and while i know im b12 deficient, he things im worse than drs have been letting me know and he belives this has been going on for a long time...
he seems to thik that monthly b12 is NOT going to be enough and were probably going to be looking at weekly b12 hots t home if insurance will cover...if not...we'll have to figure it out otherwise.
he got my previous blood work results from the week after my first b12 injection...and he say "this was before the shot right?" and i go, nothat was about 7 days after a 3cc b12 shot...
my results were below "normal" even with the shot...he said at 5000ius per day sublingual my pee shoudl have been neon orange and id b bouncing off the walls and yet i was barely reistering b12 7 days after a b12 shot (i was also still taking the sublingual 7 days a week then too...the average person only needs 2.6ius a day and the liver should store about 7 years wrth too...lol) and i BARELY registered...
he things the deficiency is much worse than ive been le to belive and thats leading to other issues...
he belives that the costochondrotis (an auto immune issue that causes inflamation of the cartilidge in my ribcage) was just a hint...
and that i likely have hashimotos...an auto immune attacking the thyroid...
and one of the big issues with long term b12 deficiency....autoimmune disorders.
he hsnt ruled out other causes for the tyroid issue, theres thyroid cancer in the family, buthe thinks theres omehting going on causing severe b12 issues and that veyrthing is linked to that...and unfortunatly not reversable with simply b12 treatment...(if its hshimotos ill be on thyroid meds)
by the time i got home i was exhausted, had to feed the pig-wigs, feed the outside animals and mae my own dinner...
im so drained right now.
on one hand it sucks to be told "hey your body might be trying to ill itself...
on the other hand its nice to have someone finally listen when i sy "somethings not right with my thyroid" and say "yeah...your right" he says theres SOMEHTING going on...the uestion is ust...what?!
ive been saying thyroid issues since 3 years before surgery...
and ive ALWAYS for as long as i remmeber been b12 deficient nd everyone ust kept telling me to tke a b12 pill and eat plenty of fish and red meat...its only since surgery that theyve started taking it seriously (cause it got worse) but to know that this lng term issue that everyone brushed off could be the cause of other issues that everyone sjust brushedoff...
GAH!
anywho. home, chilling out...going to feed the pig-wigs in about 1/2 hour, then a movie and soe toodling about then last feedingfor the night and BED!
i swear sleep sounds like th best thing ever right now.
Sounds like you have a pretty decent doctor right now, and glad he's helping you get to the bottom of all these issues instead of brushing you off again. I HATE it when doctors do that!
Soooo, when ya coming to get some poop? I'll save you some back for whenever. We're likely going to get another load out here anyway. It's NOT going to be quite enough
Sorry about your thyroid issues. I have hypothyroid and have been battling it for 31 years. I get the b12 shots once a month and I am taking the medication although its been a beast for the past 2 years I am feeling better. I know how tired you get. I hope they figure it out soon.
