never herd cricket frogs before, it sounded jut like crickets...just *QUIET* crickets lol.
not much planned for today, got to get the other 3 angora groomed, and work on planning some tractors, the angora and e-lop babies are ready to be separated out.
got my other 2 angora does bred today but the lat rex and the elop does wernt lifting...will try again tomorrow.
these next few litters are going to be tet for the girls...im thinking of swapping out a few does for meatier/faster breeds, id like to bring in a nz or cali and a French lop does for meat crosses.
but we'll see.
gotta plan the chicken tractors and the veggie bed too.
It's not crickets-it's too early in the year for them. They're too young to sing. I'm pretty sure it's some type of frog, whether it's the cricket frog or something else. Here's a link to the frogs and toads of NJ. It also has the calls of all of them.
fingers crossed might have a home lined up for another angora kit...
im thinking shell either take marshmelly the ermine buck or smores the chinchilla doe (both are super mushy) shes a handspinner whos always wanted angora but they've always been too expensive. so *fingers crossed* thatll be 2 out fo 5 gone.
as fo right now ive got 2 rex, 4 angora and 3 e-lops to find homes for, rex can go next weekend and the angora and e-lops the weekend after...not bad realy.
got my satin doe harvested though, 2oz of pretty wool from her...
and started on willow, she was NOT happy about he situation, shes my hardest as she wasn't groomed ever before I got her and is a nipper when stressed...I got her about 1/3rd the way done before she started getting realy antsy so I just let her be, will try and finnish her up in the morning...her wool is sooo pretty though. and shes a good momma.
got some pool time in today, not much it wasn't that hot out, but I did 20 mins of running side to side...its a surprisingly efficient work out lol, its hard to RUN in water!
otherwise not a very productive day.
mum and dads ac unit got turned on today (new unit guys had to come in and finnish up) and to be truthfull right NOW at least im happy I don't have an ac vent in my area...its COLD int he house.
I do want dad to put a ceiling fan in my room where the light in the bed area is at least, just a small one so I can get some air flow...but honestly I ddint turn my ac on in tn until the temsp were in the mid 80s and even then it was only at bedtime (I prefer to be a little on the cool side when im sleeping) I may get a small portable ac unit for the room just to use at bedtime if it starts getting a little too toasty but I think a ceiling fan and an open window would work just fine. I do want to replace the window in the storm door with screen so ill also get some through flow...1 window makes not for good airflow lol.
oh and the baby goats are now down to jut their morning bottle...and are romaing in the back pasture all unsupervised like lol.
the lady with the young adult mini Nubian still has her, shes trying to sell as a package but will keep me updated...
and my little guy who ive got on hold at the breeder who we couldn't pick up on time is doing well.
I need ot get a banding tool and get the girls horns banded asap now since the disbudding didn't take (the sellers didn't hold the iron on long enough) the nubs should be big enough now to do it but still small enough to not take forever to work
and yeah...that's about all I got.
plans for tomorrow include going to get goat and rabbit feed, contacting the people in al about getting the check for the taxes re-issued on the car to the RIGHT people this time, and finishing grooming willow
UGH...so just updated my car insurance since ill need it for registering my car her in NJ...
gonna SUCK next month when a payment of $170 comes out of my account as the firs tpayment on my new premium, after that itlle be $85 a month...(in tn my ins was $40 a month for better coverage, but NJ has extra this and higher premiums so to bring it to any kind fo "affordable" amount I had to lower a lot of things and UP my deductables...thankfully I don't drive often so bare minimum coverage should be ok...*grumbles*
so much for getting some savings going huh?!
I keep reminding myself that im moving back south in a few years...and just need to keep on pushing forward...
but seriously now...this SUCKS...
im hoping I can get all the current buns sold that are not yet under deposit...pay off that land loan and get that out of the way...itll free up a little, enough to make up for the increase in premiums and a little to toss into savings...
credit card is the next "big job"
ive also got to figure out ways to make a little cash on the side, so im going to get the rest of my gourds painted up asap and see about setting up at the farmers market in town on Saturdays with them, and possibly home made dog treats, as well as rabbit fiber and find out what the rules are for selling my baby bunnies too...would be nice to have someplace to take em too once ther old enough, hands on is a much easier way to sell.
itll pretty much be a mish-mosh stall and mum can sell all her blankets too.
grumbles* life was much simpler in a simpler state.
deb hecked out that link and it didn't sound like any of those, it sounded jus tlike crickets...just as if someone turned the volume down lol.
probably was some kind of frog or something but odd lol.
anywho.
got confo from efowl goslings and duklings should be here tomorrow morning. so that's exciting and means ive got to get things set up in the barn today for them...weve got a larger metal trough that I can put up there (we actually have 2 but ones filled with sraps of wood and stuff...) so im thinking ill take the urrent brooder box up to the barn and set that up for the ducklings, theres only 6 of them coming, then set the metal trough up with a divider, jemima can have 1/2 and the 4 embdens an have half, as they get bigger the divider an ome out and then once they don't need th ehat anymore then can all have run of the stall until their pen is set up down neer the pond.
still have ot figure out exatly where I want the pen for them.
rhodebar eggs seem to be developing well to so that's exiting, and the banty cochin hen is sitting tight
tried for day 3 to get my broken black otter doe bred...shes not having any of it, pins herself in a corner and refuses to lift...I realy want to bring in a nz or cali doe specifically for meat pen babies so ive decided to offer her for sale (full disclosure of course) itll open up a cage for a commercial doe.
im also thinking ill focus on selling 2 of the adult angora does, (not sure who yet) thatll open up 2 more cages...I may then look for some new rex bloodlines or get a ouple more comerial does.
ahh rabbits. the joys.
my elops wont lift either, so gonna get some acv for them, I THINK we had a fall on my broken blue e-lop this morning but not sure and its only 1 fall if it was. gonna put her in again tomorrow and the day after, then give her the month and see what happens.
my currently nursing (almost 5 week old kits) wont lift for him right now, but im going to work on tractors this week/weekend for them mabe once the kits are removed shell be more apt to breed.
so todays plan is tsc for feed for the goats and rabbits, municipal center to register gypsy (gonna find out how much to register keira too, some places offer discounts for service dogs) and stop at the post office and forewarn them of the peeping package coming tomorrow.
then home, get the barn stall set up and start figuring out bunny tractors.
they arrived this morning, safe and sound, I didn't sleep well waiting for the phone call (worried it would wake everyone at 4am) but it was a little after 8 when they called, according to tracking they were reived at 7:59 lol.
I could have slept in
so they are now set up in the barn quite happy, all 4 geese look good, and all 7...yup they threw in a freebie lol...look nice, no faded, no weak but obviously we'll now have to see how they do over the next few days.
moved the 4 1/2 week old angora into a grow out cage so now I just need to build a 3rd for e-lop babies. I may work on that this afternoon.
they are all happily munching on grass lol.
I have decided that I want to build actual purpose built tractors (not just modified cages) im thinking PVC frames to keep them easily movable
anywho...
todays also cleaning day, ive done the litter boxes already and tossed the bed that im pretty sure was making it stinky outside...looks like someone probably of the feline veriety) had decided to pee all over it so that's staying outside until it gets washed in natures miracle...
still need to run the vacume around though and a quick mop.
might have a home lined up for my little lovebird who found herself reaently single (don't know what happened but work up the morning before last to him dead...possibly cat fright?
so rather than try to find her a mate im going to find her a good home, the lovvies are a little loud for my liking
also found someone with English budgies so might be able to get pickle a new mate (me e-budgie who lost his in the move) hes urrently livgin with ikle, a little petstore budgie, but if I can get an ebudgie buddie ill find ickle a new home too...
got to dig out keiras vaccine reord and go get her registration today (rather be safe than sorry theres SUPPOSED to be an active dog warden patrolling the town...
and we need to do a TSC run for goat feed.
I also started an atkins induction refresher diet today, ive been stuck and craving..so back to square one.
and yeah...fun times.
trying to keep busy.
