well it was only semi kind of bad news.
the apraiser put the water heater as a problem on the apraisal. well the seller has made all nessicary repairs but is not willing to pay to replace the water heater...(or pay the $200 a plumber wants to come out and test its life...)
so were going to add onto the loan so ill actually get cash back at closing (since the house apraised higher than offer), so ill be paying out $200 for the closing costs and getting a check for $400 back, the $400 should cover a brand new water heater and delivery/instalation.
it sucks that i have to pay it out, but the seller has taken a hit on this one and is paying almost all the closing costs and didnt give us any issues when we had to push back the closing date, and when the issues came back he fixed almost EVERYTHIGN without a second question.
an extra $400 on the loan will amount to about 20 cents a month on the monthly payment and it wont effect the interest rate, so i figure why fight it if i realy want this?!
when the initial inspection report came in that the water heater only had about a year on it i planned to replace it anyway...just means i gotta do it a little sooner.
he did say however that if we can get this sorted now, we should be all set to close early
tomorrow will be 2 weeks until our absolute last signing date...
so gah!
wants to know like now.
despite not knowing i found a great deal on craigslist for a compact front loading washer/dryer set (stackable) so were going to go purchase that this afternoon, even if i dont get the place itll either store untill next spring when i start again or im sure i could resell it on craigslist for the price im paying for it.
the stackables dont come up often and when they do there expensive, but given the space in the utility/laundry room if i want to make the most of that space its the only logical way to go so im going to jump on this deal and hope its a good sign that they are available and she took my offer $50 under what they were asking for them)
if the house comes through, dads going to give me the cash for them as a housewarming gift so thats also nice, either way they only temperorarily come out of my pocket.
if i get word on the house ill also eb looking for a refridgerator which he says since he was going to buy me a new washer dryer, if i can find fridge on craigslist used and because the washer dryer i found is cheap, hell buy that for me too, essentially hes offering me up to $500 in apliances as a housewarming gift. yay!
that VA earthquake this afternoon...
yup, felt the rumble here in my little corner of connecticut. got about 15 seconds of a mild rumble followed by some intensity and about 30 seconds of intensity good enough to agitate the bird and aggitate the fishtank enough that it formed a little splash out.
my first earth moving experience ever...and i thought i imagined it...
yup realy, i honestly thought id imagined it until my dad asked if i felt the earthquake...weirdness.
and now there saying hurricane irene could hit anywhere form LI to MA this comming weekend.
Odd natural activity were having this week.
so i now have my very own washer/dryer.
the woman we picked it from was absolutly lovely, from london origionally so we chatted england for a while. then i met her 2 horses...
yup in the middle of city, the house was lovely, but backs right onto a cliff above the highway...and amazingly, horses...i would have never expected them where they were. she had a belgian mix (about 15 hands) and a 15 hand appaloosa, both rescues, both beautiful.
the washer/dryer is perfect, its a smaller set "compacts" plus a special stand to turn them form side by sides into stackables. the units look brand new and the stand doesnt have a scratch on it, shes aparently had them for a year, bought from a friend, but then her kid gave her their old set when they got a new one...
before that she doesnt know how frequently they were used, they were owned by an older woman who aparently prefered to have her laundry done by others so used a laundromat most of the time...she things they're only about 3 yrs old. they seriously look brand spankin new!
the dryer wasnt a big deal, its bulky but not heavy...
but the washing machine...that suckers heavy (suprisingly so for a box of its size)...if it wernt for my dad theres no way i would have been able to get it home, he did all the heavy lifting and i just helped navigate it into place in the jeep.
the stand to turn it into a stackable is actually an $80 unit, then each of them sells used for about $300 a peice plus $60 for the power cords.
i got it all for $150! woot!
so its 1 step closer to having what i need.
once i get the go-ahead ill be keeping my eyes peeled for a fridge/freezer too...that ill have to have delivered though, just hoping i can find somehting used with delivery...after that its up to the moving guys lol.
so yeah...pretty productive day
got to give the Y a call and see if were actually going to have a water areobics instructor tonight...(last week they left us hanging)
if we do ill be going there for 6:30...if not ill be making dinner...just not sure what ill ba making for dinner lol.
tuesdays is usually the water areobics class...
last week our insrtuctor left for college.
a bunch of us called and were told that class was on AND that we had an instructor.
got there and no instructor.
luckily one of the ladies in the class used to teach so she led the class for us.
so this week we'll try again.
i called the y and asked very clearly.
"is the hydrofitness class on tonight and do we have an instructor?"
the reply was "let me check" followed by "Yes class is on tonight and an instructor will be present...why?"
i explained about last weeks issue and she said something to the guy (i later find out hes the aquatics director) who told her to tell me there was an instrictor last week...
i told her i heard what he said and we did NOT have an instructor, i was there and had already filed formal complaints...
i was assured we had an instructor so off to the pool we whent...
mum and i do the class and dad swims laps.
get there...get ready, head in and guess what...NO instructor!
the lady who headed last weeks class whent and found the on duty manager (the director had left) and explained the situation, shes given us the name of the aquatics directors supervisor and is encoraging us to file complaints, shes also going to confront the aquatics manager as not only myself but 5 other women called to confrm we hd an instructor for tonights class...
then it all became a mute point...
something was found in little peices all over the bottom of the pool...
Someone had POOPED in the pool!
Were not talking couldnt hold it emergency poop, and were not talking leaky diper poop...were talking someone must have activly focused and done it on purpose.
turns out there had been some kids in the pool earlier, as soon as it was noticed the lifeguard goes "and i know who did it too" aparently one of the kids from earlier had left a similar "gift" in the showers...and they belive its the same kid that took a dump in the pool...
seriously?! who the hell does that.
these wernt bits of kids either aparently but mid-aged teens, probably 14-16 years old.
so class would have been ended anyway because they had to close the pool...
what gets me though is the lifguard knew the kid was up to something while in the pool but never bothered to double check anythign was amis...
*sigh*
its so frustrating that 1 someone would do such a discusting thing and 2 that this place i hand my money to to be a member, and expect to put on their programs, or at least tell me if theres a cancelation or problem...has twice now in as many weeks told us we have an instrictor only to find out weve been blatantly lied to.
the manager this evening told us flat out the aquatics director KNEW we didnt have an instrictor for this or last week and as far as shes aware we dont have one lined up for future classes yet either...and yet we were blatantly lied to on the phone about having an instrictor.
