well our powr was returned to us this morning...
yay...

thankfully my fishtank (which beyond the fridge/freezer was my biggest concern) is still safe and balanced despite no fintration....
the koi pond however didnt do so well, dad just informed me we lost at least 3 of our larger koi :(
gonna go check in a few mins and see if i can do any damage control...now the filter is back up and running we should be good again...but its so frustrating to loose the big ones, weve nurtured for years!
replacing them would cost $100's per fish belive it or not...

it was kinda frustrating as most of our town had power but our power company wouldnt tell us anything...no "well be in your area on such and such a date" not even a "were working on it" just a "yeah we know *click*"
were paying you people ALOT of moeny eveyr month (they just upped the rates AND the state put an additional tax on your electric bill...
yes that means not only do you pay your electric bill at ahigher rate now...but you also have to pay an additional chunk as a tax on the delivery fee...*fun*
i swear, connecticut woudl tax the tax on your taxes if they could figure out a way to word it so it sounds important.

anywho...were back up a couple days earlier than the media were saying (we were origioanlly told 5-7 days without power)
everything seemed to have fared well, got to check the freezer fully today to be sure nothing in there has partially defrosted/needs to be eaten.

Well, to be fair, the person you talk to might not know anything, and they probably have 500 calls back up with the same question. I hated working phones during the PA blizzard last winter. EVERY tower was down and we had no clue when the power company would be caught up enough to go check on our stuff.

Abi, you are certainly right...
i think i was more upset about the sharpness of the reply and being hung up on...they simply assumed i was someone without power before i even mentioned what i was calling about...
what if id been calling about a live line down? or calling from somewhere not on the outage list?! they didnt even give me a chance to say my name, just a hard we know and a hang up...
id rather get an answering machine and no return call than to be talked to like dirt and hung up on lol.

HOUSE UPDATE!

well the underwriter approved, and its aparently at usda awaiting its stamp of approval...at this point my broker is telling me everythings set to close, book the flights yada yada...
my closing is booked for sept 6th
my flights and hotel are booked for september 5th (i cant afford to stay in a hotel for anymore days than i absolutly have to.)

right now this is working out in such a way that im supposed to be paying $0 down, $200 for whats left of the closing costs, and getting back a check for $400 to pay back for the water heater that had to be installed.
(whihc happend to be just a little less than $400, a bigger tank would have been cheaper, but it wouldnt fit where the current tank is, so we whent with the same sized tank (30 gal, fine for 1 person) and eventulaly ill have a nat gas point of use on demand heater in for the shower so for those days when i realy want a long hot shower i can have one...the POU systems arnt as expensive as going fully tankless, i also dont think the us tech for tankless is reliable enough yet for me to upgrade fully (its the ONLY system in the UK so the us tankless has alot to work up to lol)

the flight and hotel have cost me a little under $400...
i put that on my credit card whihc has no interest for 1 year so at least i can pay that bit back over a few months.

im going to ask dad for the $150 he told me hes going to give me for the washer dryer i bought (he said if i get the house hed give me the cash i paid out and itll be part of my housewarming gift yay) so once i get the closing done i can go buy a roll of fencing and some t-posts to put up a simple fence for the nekkid dogs...the nice thing with the little ones is i dont need it to be a super strong fence at this point, they wont challenge the fence so its just something to provide a boundry i can have the fence properly set with wooden fence posts and fully stretched ect...

other than making sure the electric and water are on as of closing afternoon (gas isnt as important since ill have a little while before its heater weather)...

the current plan is...i fly out for closing, get it all sorted and stay in the house from the night of the 6th untill sunday (i fly back to CT very early sunday morning) during my time there ill put up the makeshift fence and make sure ill have electric and water while im there and it can stay on then. while im there im also going to see if i can find a fridge locally used that theyd also be willign to deliver...id i dont have to buy one and stick it in a moving truck that would be great lol.

ill then fly back to ct sunday sept 11th, and start packing. my uncle comes out the 14th and stays for a week, so im going to try and arrange for the moving truck as of thurs sept 22nd (or itll be the following monday)
ill then drive my car down with some nessecities and all the critters.

i need to figure out somewhere to stay in virginia close to the highway for the first night and then probbaly again a second night closer to tn (or in tn)...thats going to be interesting with all the critters, but ill figure that out.
as of right now ill be all moved in before the last weke of september.

Im seriously exctied but also incredibly nervous right now...

ive got lots of crazy crossing of the fingers right now to make sure this folows through and usda gives us our stamp of approval on time.
if we dont close by the 7th the entire deal falls through...and ill loose about $1200 from the process (pre-paid items like the appraisal, flights (which even if i paid the extra $20 for trip protection would only be refundable if i or a direct family member died or ended up in hospital...))

oh well...nothing left for me to do other than wait.
*deep breath*

Well, yeh. LOL! Since half their workers were probably out to the storm too, would have made MUCH more sense to put in the message "yes, we know. We're working on it. If this is NOT about an outage, continue on..."

lol! Actually, our electric service has "press 1 if there is a downed line" to skip everything.

Waiting is the hardest part.

When we have an outage, you get a recording. You press buttons to answer questions, and it will tell you the status of your outage. I just might have that number memorized. When we lost it during Irene I kept getting a recording saying they didn't know anything yet.

Want me to try to help you find a fridge? CL is pretty good around here. I have a truck and could deliver it for you fairly easily, and I don't mind at all. If you need ANY help at all, let me know. :) I've moved a hundred times in my lifetime, and it SUCKS to do alone

Free, your awesome! i might take you up on that offer if i cant find someone willing to deliver (only because i dont want anyone trying to lift a fridge unessicarily if someone else is willing to do it lol.)

heres a question...whats the weather like down there right now, (in otherwords, what do i need to pack for my closing trip lol (first week of september))

so i started my major research today...
looks like satalite internet is going to be the way to go...
based on the info im finding looks like direct tv is going to be my tv provider (satalite) and ill need some kind of home phone service, just very basic emergencies only type service.

also need to find a good local bank...wells fargo (who im with right now) are playing all kinds of games and tacking fees left right and center that i simply cant afford...so the search is on for a good bank that takes care of its people...

on the list of things to find is also a good "farm" vet, essentially a vet whos been there done that and wont try and chastize me for doing my thing...someone i can turn to if i need anything but isnt going to give me alot of problems for not doing anything more than rabies vac for my dogs or feding raw ect.

its becommign a little more real at this point.

so im doing anything i can to stay busy...
i made a puppy descision...i WILL be waiting for the cane corso litter in october...i think given the small size of the house a dane would be too big, a coros will give me all the pros of a mastif (including a naturally protective dog) with a little less height lol.
so im doing alot of hanging out on cane corso forums and it just makes me want one even more.

ive got to call the broker in an hour or two and ask if hes heard anything...
im seriously antsy rght now for obvious reason, i cant afford more than one night in a hotel so if things fall through i dont know what im going to do, i need to close on this house.
everythings booked and either way im not getting that money back so im over that worry im just now worried im gong to get to TN and have everything fall through and end up sitting in the airport and spending money to fly home early.
im also getting antsy as right now ive no idea what im supposed to be bringing with me on this trip for closing...kinda need to know that stuff so i can pack accordingly lol.
im hoping hes had the final stamp on this so i know for sure but i at the very least need to know what to pack and bring with me.

i spent today doing some garden stuff...
part of that was repainting one of the firepits (im hoping dad will let me yoink it when i move lol)
he got it off the city dump last late summer, it was in one peice but rusty and then left out all winter...so needless to say...it had seen better days
so today i took a good wire brush to it, scrubbed every bt of loose rust i could get off it, then it got sprayed down with rustolium brand heat paint, the stuff made for stove pipes, bbqs ect. It looks like new! im very happy with how it came out (even if i did get paint all over me lol) unforutnatly when using a spray can i over extend my finger and get covered in paint on my finger tip, or my finger starts to ache and i switch and get paint all over that finger ect LOL.
but it looks realy nice considering the state it was in.
it could do with a full vacume out of the ash thats stuck in it and a full interior scrub down and painting inside and on the very bottom too (its realy rusty on the bottom) but i ran out of paint, 1 can doesnt go very far lol.
if im taking it with me ill invest in another can and finnish the job...if not, dad can finnish it if he wants to...cause im mean like that :p

managed to get in for my deppo shot this morning, 3 more months of no worries about birth control...
i know deppo gets a bad rap from some, but its literally changed my life for the better and at this point i think id fall apart if they ever tried to take it from me.
i have to go and get blood drawn tomorrow for my 1 year gastric bypass aniversary apointment which is a few days after i return home from TN...gotta get that done before i leave or my dr will yell at me for not havng the results in time lol.

hmm, what else?! not much realy going on.
trying to get my ducks in a row and not freek out about the house.

i keep going through waves too, one minute the prospect of living on my own, doing MY thing ect is super exciting, the next im in mild panic about leaving everyone and everything i know behind me...the frineds i have may not be anything more than fair weather frineds but there there for occasional socilization...mostly im worried about leaving family behind...
its silly cause i want this more than anything...but i guess doubts are normal, i mean this will be my first ever time of me living on my own...not with a boyfrined, not with frineds, but ME doing MY thing...

so yeah...
for now im watching star trek and doing some window shopping online :)

well...
heard from the brooker today
everything is all set for closing on tuesday...
and, and...oooo get this.

when i made the offer i put $250 into excrow as earnest...
that was when i was putting 5% down
that escrow would come off the down payment...yay right?!

well, when we decided to go usda we decided to go zero down, its such a miniscule amount more that the overall effect is very little a month on the payments and it gives me alot more to actually move with!
but d still need to bring aprox $200 to the table for the left overs of the closing costs that the seller isnt covering (ended up being about $600 out of pocket as i also paid for the appraisal)
this number could increase a little, we wont knwo EXACTLY wha tthe closing cost untill the day of closing...but anywho...if its over, it wont be much over.

well today i find out, since i have no down payment to find, the money in excrow goes to the closing...so that $200 or so i would normally have to bring will come out of that already paid money first...
if theres more over that $250 ill put to, but if its under $250 i actually get that back.
im also getting a check for $400 back (its added to the mortgage but again increases the payment amonth by less than a penny) for the water heater...so instead of having to bring money to closing, i might actually walk out getting money back from this whole thing...
i cannot tell you how huge of a weight that is, ill be able to put that $400 right onto my credit card to pay off the money for the water heater, plus hopefully get $50 additional to cover the air matress im going to have to buy once i get there LOL.

the excitment and nerves are both welling up right now...
untill that paper is signed and those keyes are in my hand its not mine so im still antsy, but yay for hearing from the broker finally.

im currently now debating when ill be moving, as it stands right now i was thinking the 26th, but, if i wait an extra week or 2 (moving the first week or so in october i should have another paycheck in the bank to help with moving costs and it gives mum and dad another couple of weeks to buy my new matress...(my sister stole mine so there buying me a new one rather than buying her a new one lol) itll depend on what the loan specs are reguarding how long the house can be "empty", but i might even try to push it back untill the 12th so i can still go to my friends wedding on the 11th.

anywho...
it feels good to have actual confirmation on the closing...again between now and then anything could happen, but everyone seems pretty dang positive about the whole thing so...

woot!
