ours is the same, wed have to fill everything via the filter on the fridge, our city water is TERRIBLE...
were going to refil the bottles we can via the frigde filter tomorrow, fill up the kiddy pool so weve got water for the chickens, and we've got bottled water as a just in case...1/2 a gal per person per day in pre-bottled water, both me and my dad have 64floz water bottles, plus weve got a bunch of 20oz bottles that could easily be refilled a few more times lol.
i MIGHT fil the bathtub in my bathroom just in case we doo loose power, so that ive got water for the dogs and macaw without having to break into the human supply. (or stealing it from my fishtanks lol.)

side note, thanks for the headsup on the usda rural loans taking longer...
ive never been through this process myself before so ive no idea what to expect under normal circumstances.

my broker told me "were going to find out asap, because ill be on their butt untill they tell me" aparently hes calling the underwirters office 4-5 times a day to ask if its ready yet lol.
my agent belives the underwriter is waiting on word form the appraiser, there was some stuff that had to be done before the loan could be approve and the water heaters the last thing, once the appraiser goes back out to check everything that needed to be done, she thinks we'll hear back that afternoon, which will hopefully be monday.
my broker is aparently VERY secure in the belif that there wont be any problems...so im hoping hes right, hes aparently done alot of the usda loans and says the only hiccup he could see is a reason for moving so i faxed him an official letter to whomever it may concern stating i was moving to tn as my parents are relocating (next year) and i currently rent from them, once they move away form CT i simply cannot afford to stay in this state on my current earnings and i have frineds in TN (i do have friends currently working in nashville and folks on this forum lol).
told him if they even hint at questioning feel free to send it to them.
he seemed happy with that so...

yeah.looks like itll be another weekend before i have an answer...
im REALY hoping the power doesnt go out though now because if my cellphone fails (ill be charging it up tomorrow and then turning it off to use as a just in case, but still it tends to be battery hungry) ill have no way of contacting my agent or the broker...

in good news, im nomming on mac and cheese and it is yummy! lol

DANG IT!

i forgot my cocolate and my banannas..im not sure if i can survive this storm without them!
hmm, do i brave the inevitable insanity to go and hope the hysterical hoarders havent swiped the last of the banannas or do i stay home and hope i can survive without my narners...

and if i do brave the mass hysteria...do i stay local and pay a little more or do i make the drive to the grocery thats cheaper but further away and hope i dont get hammered in the traffic.

i did manage to get my pre-storm cleaning done...vacuming, trash is off to the tip, the fish tanks are topped up...trying to get my laundry done before tonight, mostly because folkind git and putting it away will give me something to do if the power goes out. lol.

its rainy here today, was hoping the rain would stay off till tonight so we could finnish up wihtout getting soaked...but at least we got the patio covers down before the rain hit.

im going to brown the roast mum has in the fridge and crock pot that this afternoon (it needs ot be cooked anyway and its the only thing we have that wont cook well on the grill lol.
im also thinking im going to make a couple of turkey meatloaves and pre-cook them, there actually realy yummy even cold, but also easy to heat on a peice of foil on the grill.
theres another batch of ground turkey thats also going to become chillie, ill do that one in my small crock pot, again easy to heat on a pot on the camp grill.

but first i think im going to go check my laundry, get dressed and brave the crowds for narners...lol

Maybe you'll get lucky. I realized late last night that I was out of onions, and I'm cooking a pot roast! So, I HAD to have them. I dreaded going to the store. Well, the only reason I was in there as long as I was was because hubby decided he HAD to have some cheese. The deli was where there was a line, so I had to wait for my number. And then he wanted me to get this and that and something else. I refused. I wanted to get HOME! But, other than in the deli, there weren't many people in the store.

well i was pleasantly suprised, hit agway for jack jack food (because i realized im low and if i dont get it now nowhere will have it (they get the brand in sporadically and if they dont have a bag i have to order it...they had a bag so jack jacks now ot 6 months worth of base diet.
then took the drive to the BigY, took the main road..the roads are insanity...
stop and shop lot was packed, walmart lot was packed...was a little worried but aparently in an "emergency" people forget target and BigY are only a short drive up the road...target lot was quiet, and big Y...ive never seen it so quiet up there, i actually parked right outside the main door, got in, got almost everyhting i needed and got out in less tha 20 mins...
managed to get peanuts, walnuts, cashews, almonds, mixed dried fruit(mango, papaya, coconut, pinapple), and cherios to make jacks treat/snack mix...yes he gets his own trail mix lol, it also has unsalted sunflower seeds, dried chillie peppers, pepitas (raw unsalted), bananna chips... i just continue adding various mixed nuts and fruits to it...
unfortunatly big y only had green banannas though, i cant eat them green and they NEVER ripen properly on the counter top...*yick*
so i took the back roads back to town and whent to the local grocery, who just happend to have yellow bannanas on sale for 59 cents a lb! YAY so i got banannas and my chocolate and some green tea :D
again the store was quite empty.
back roads from there home...

the stores seem ok (other tha walmart) but the roads are insane around here.
weve got a mandetory evac for shelton and norwalk and i belive groton and somewhere else are also already on the list, im expecting bridgeport and milford to also make the list as they are also right on the water and very close to where current projections put the center of the storm.

so im hoping if anyoens on the evac list they make their plans and get moving now, the roads are nutz but currently navacable and havent backed up onto the backroads yet..but it wont be long before things start getting realy crazy.

on our end though things are pretty much as there going to stay, everything thats a potential projectile has been weighed down, tied down or put indoors...the fabric corsers have been taken off the patios so they are no longer sail cloths...weve got groceries a plenty, everythings relitivly bolted down, were not n a flood zone (whihc is where the current evac zones are) and beyond hacking down all our trees were as safe from the wind as we can be.

everyone in the path of this one stay safe...
ill update as i can but theres no telling if and for how long we'll loose power.

in good news though my agent and the seller whent and picked up the new water heater today, its being installed as we speak...fingers crossed that this is the final step and i get that approval...i need to book flights and thats not exactly going to be easy if i loose power for a week!

oh good, im glad, milford as far as i know still hasen tmandetory evac'd but bridgeport issed notice for all low lying areas...ive got friends in bridgeport who arnt in a low lying area who have decided to batten down and wait it out...i did offer out place but id be more comforrtable at home too lol.

and in another devlopment, weve been issues tornado watches from now untill 12pm tomorrow, those could be extended if irene decides to spawn...
when all this statrted i mentioned to folks that while the hurricane is a problem the bigger problem will be the potential tornados she could spawn...
they all looked at me like i had 6 heads...hurricanes CANT create tornadoes...
unofrutnatly, nope, hurricanes once hit land can (and often do) spout tornadoes, there not the terrifyingly majestic funnels that are well known as tornadoes, instead tending to be irractic, shorter and uneven...but they are still potentially problem causing tornadoes and hurricanes CAN and do give birth to them...
they didnt belive me...

guess what states just issued tornadow watches LOL

i was gonna put a "told ya so" on my facebook but decided better of it lol.

people assume because this isnt weather i grew up with that i havent a clue...
but they forget while bio is my major, im a sicence kid and am facsinated by storms of all kinds, im also a prepper...hurricane a comming ok google what else can i expect.

i do have an extreemly unhappy kitty right now though...tempi wants to go out...
winds are supposed to start picking up over night...
i know for a fct if she goes out now she wont be back before bed and if the weather gets bad i may never see her again...so sorry kitty, you can mew and growl and hit the bells on my door all you want, oz doesnt have a kitty lost and found and id rather you not get blown away!
i know shed probably just hid somewhere safe, but id rather not take the risk if she gives me ANY choice in the matter. but shes VERY unhappy, growling at the door and talking away.
the other animals are calm, so ill be paying attention to them as this progresses to see what...if anything...they do.

though now i realy look, the fish are acting a litle out of thier norm...yeah i know...fish?! but realy, usually the tiger barbs go their own ways (they typiclaly only group tight if something spooks them) but right now there tightly clustered in one corner of the tank, gigantor has reveresd into one of the caves and strawberry greenbean and pinky are all hiding in the plants...

hmm, fish as an early detection system...who knew?!

My hubby had a cat that absolutely refused to use a litter box. It had to "go" outside and would try to hold it and complain till you let it out. Even in a hurricane. Hubby ended up telling it " I'm gonna tie a string to your tail and call you a kite. " The kitty ran to the nearest cover, did his stuff quick, and raced back in.

least that one was smart and came back home lol.
tempi would happily run out realize once shes all the way across the yard and then hunker down in abush somwhere untill it passed...but shes never been through anything like this and im worried shed spook and get disorientated.

she was actually goo all night, but this morning shes complaining again.

weve still got power here obviously, plenty of rain, so much so i let the dogs out for morning pee and they stood by the door yelling to come back in...
the wind is starting to pick up in gusts, each gust lasting about 30-60 seconds right now...the storm is due to realy impact ct as of 10 am, but many areas already have power loss and trees down...
i think trees down is going to be the biggest problem around here with this...weve got sooo many old trees in this area and all of them so close to the roads and powerlines that the trees will probably do more overall damage than the rain or wind alone.
ill update again later if we still have power...

well its midday, the storms supposed to start winding down and guess who JUST lost power...yup, wanst even a big gust of wind associated with it either...just outness.

the router has a back up battery...not sure how long it will last...CL&P are sating some areas could be without power for up to a week...*grumbles* we made it through the 70+mph gusts no problem, and then randomly loose it just as were getting to the tail end...that SUCKS!

my cellphone is off for now, might need it tomorrow, think ill drop my agent and broker an email now and let them know and that ill call my broker tomorrow afternoon to see if we have approval, if not gonna push it back to the 6th simply because right now 1: we dont know and 2: i cant book flights if i loose internet completly!

this couldnt have come at a worse time in terms of me trying to get everthing sorted on the house...
