Around here, you cannot find/buy whole wheat pizzas that you take and bake. No biggie, as I like making homemade pizzas now anyways (just made my second homemade pizza, lol). Now, I'm working on an idea on how to make premade pizzas. How would I freeze several of them at a time without making a total mess? I was thinking about doing it in steps. Do the dough, spread one out, add sauce, toss it into freezer. Make dough #2, add sauce, put wax paper on #1, then put #2 on top, etc. Once all frozen, add cheese and meats and then, well, then I'm lost. How could I package up a few of these? I'm not even sure if a personal sized one (pie sized) would fit in a gallon freezer baggy. I'd rather make full size pizzas though. Also, I'm thinking about using bread pans to help shape/size the dough for some smaller personal pizzas. And, another question... Do you bake the crust at all before freezing, or do you leave it as dough?

My kids love pizza, I refuse to pay for such a simple food!

I portion and roll out individual pizza dough, pop it into a 400 degree oven for a few minutes, cool, stack & freeze. I also freeze the sauce and cheese bit seperately

For best results, par-bake the dough. I will still work if you just freeze it after assembly, but the crust is better if it is partially baked first

Awesome, thanks! I wonder if I can combine both methods into one... One day, make a bunch of crusts, freeze and then another day, pull them out, put sauce, cheese and meats on and freeze as a whole pizza. Would maybe be easier to do it this way if I'm making a LOT of pizzas (maybe for gifting/trading) or if I'm doing other bready things as well.

english muffins work great as the crust, too.
Oh, they are excellent for little pizzas! I used to do that a lot. Once, we ran out of EM's and just used sliced bread. It was still delicious!

This is a great idea. I would love to do this. Does anyone have a good crust recipe? I have one that I have been using but am not real satisfied with it.

I wanna know too about a good crust recipe, I've thought of using regular bread dough but haven't tried it yet.

We have a good take & bake place around here that I have bought several and froze some just as they came. The crust didn't rise as much as if fresh, but still good.
French bread is also good to use. I've even used canned biscuits-the cheapest ones 10 per can. These were great when the boys were younger.

We do like Wifezilla, par-bake the crust, assemble the pizzas, freezing them one at a time, then packing them stacked up in the freezer...

So far I've just been using store bought crust dough... but would like to learn to make it on my own.
