Oh you guys, you dear dear people! Your posts have me laughing so hard, I'm crying! Yes, I get the truths and messages in your posts, too, but I must tell you all how wonderful to come here and find caring and support from all of you. I couldn't ask for a better group of friends!

Hey Quail,

Tell these people that you'll take them out of your will! :smack
Who says they were ever in it to start?????? :gig

I'm in a much better state today. Mentally and emotionally. My mom whisked me and DH away for the day...treated us to a trip to TSC where I (even though I said I wouldn't purchase more poultry from them ever) came home with 5 Amberlink pullets and 1 Cornish Rock. Sigh. Oh and a Backwoods Home Magazine. :) My mommy got it for me! :D Gotta love my mom. She went out of her way to cheer me up and to help DH and me get a break.

Niece and her BF are looking for an apartment!! :ya

SKR8PN, I'd be afraid of shooting myself in the foot with that thing LOLOL I'm afraid I've not learned to shoot.

We ended up not going to the Auction today. My mom took the RIR chicks instead and gave me a back of Flock Raiser in trade for them. There is a couple from her church that want them, so she picked them up for them and since I would have used the $ from the sale of the chicks for the flock raiser anyway, I felt it was a fair trade. I now only have 6 of the chicks from the original 300 left....two barred rocks and 4 Ameracaunas....which will head to auction next week or so. They aren't being a bother right now, so I might keep them and eat them. We'll see.

As for making rules, I'm trying to decide how to bring that up. I hadn't thought about the running up of my electric bill, but I'll be sure to broach that subject as soon as the next bill comes in. This way I have proof in my hand to show what the usage was. Nephew has his job interview tomorrow, and he said he'll pay his way in our home...we'll see once he starts with a paycheck coming.

The BF was not one we had invited. He just came along with my niece and his parents are in Wisconsin. They did do all the dishes, and I mean even ones that were not their responsibility to wash, today! They have taken all the water containers that were empty and loaded them in their car this evening and said they plan to fill them tomorrow morning. My niece and SIL helped with dinner today. They were on their own for lunch.

Apparantly since I holed up in my bedroom last night so that I could be online, I freaked them all out. They thought I was royally po'ed so they've busted butts today. Hmm...I like that! It didn't start out that way today, but they didn't roll out of bed until 10:30 am so I just told them they had the kids for a few hours and DH, SIL, and I all left with my mom, because for the last few days DH, SIL, and I have had ALL the kids! When my nephews daughter wakes up in the morning, they put her out of her bedroom, don't help her to the potty or change her or anything...just send her on out to us if we are up...and they go back to bed...so today we turned it on them and made them keep all 6 kids for 4 hours. It was great. They made NO complaints either (and they won't if they know what's good for them!)

DH says if they don't have jobs by May 1 he is kicking them out. I said good, that keeps my hands clean. SIL won't be kicked out. She's on a fixed income and she does help. She's tried to talk to her kids, but they just ignore her. It's a long story, and I don't blame her, but I do blame their dad. The kids are the way they are because it's how their dad taught them to be.

Tomorrow is a new day. :) I'm hoping someone has an apartment tomorrow! Or at least a lead on one!!!!!!

SIL and I have plans for working in the garden tomorrow, and moving some of the older chicks to the outdoor brooder, depending on how the weather holds up. They are calling for rain for the next two days. We'll see.

I'm glad you're feeling better, what a difference a day makes, huh? I know what it's like when you just need a break from a situation. At least they seem to be making an effort.

We got a bunch of rain yesterday, tornado warnings and all. Scary, we got hail for about 10 minutes...really fascinated the kids though! There was lots of damage to the south of us but we mostly just got heavy rain.

Hope you have a better day Aly!

Today was, well, interesting I guess.

Nephew went to his job interview and came home with a start date. Unfortunately his training classes don't start until next month, but at least he has a job.

My niece took her boyfriend to his interview today and he left there not knowing if he had the job or not. Which DH and I thought was strange when everytime we've ever gone for an interview we left knowing if we were hired or not. He had his interview with McDonalds, and I don't think I've ever had a fast food place tell me they had to call me, but then again, it's been 10 years or so since I worked fast food.

Apparantly they looked into an apartment today. They are trying to be real secretive about it. I'm thinking how stupid as I'm more than happy to throw them a "moving out" party. HAHAHA

Nephew is worried about transportation to work. We're helping him find an economic vehicle. Dh and he were talking about it today. Our nephew is super excited about his job. He said if he had a car, he'd already be looking for an apartment or house to rent. Poor kid, he wants to be out sooo bad and yet he's the one who helps us out the most. Other than his mom. He even told DH today that this weekend when we are supposed to have the nice weather he's going to help him haul in the fence posts we need to finish our pasture field. I think the plan is to put Dear Niece to watching all the kids while the rest of us, including her boyfriend, go work on the fence.

The boyfriend doesn't want to get his hands dirty. I said why not? They wash. He didn't like that.

Today DH told them we are not providing anymore bread for the home. We've gone through TWELVE LOAVES in two weeks!!!! That's a LOT of bread! And we bought it all!! We are going through 2 gallons of milk in a day and a half, and that's just ridiculous!!! Plus, the milk is from the WIC for our kids, so I told DH I am not turning anymore WIC in for them to eat up. Not happening. I whipped out the black marker and wrote names on the WIC food and told the niece and her BF that the cereal was OFF Limits and for the kiddos only.

They did haul in water today. When they got home from running their errands today they were here for all of 5 minutes and then they ran down to the laundramat...thing is, we haven't seen them change their clothes!!! They've been wearing the same thing for like 2 or 3 days in a row!

While everyone was gone DH and I worked on splitting and stacking some word, I finished breaking down my pallet toppers for the A-Frame chicken tractor we're building, and we put up part of our fencing for the pasture.

We've planted 7 rows of potatoes and 4 pounds of onions. Tomorrow I'm hoping to get out my lettuce, cabbage, and carrots between the rain drops. We'll see how it goes I guess.

My mom stopped by again today to visit. It was a nice visit, too.

Tomorrow I should have ducklings (I hope) arriving. If not tomorrow then Thursday. Keeping my fingers crossed for their safe arrival!! On the order I have 1 female mallard, 1 straight run blue swedish, 1 male Welsh Harlequin, and 2 female Welsh Harlequins. I'm really excited for the Harlequins!!

I clipped a wing on my BO roo, Pocket, today. That Big Ol' Roo just refuses to stay in his own run! He keeps hopping out and flying into the bantam pen and beating them off their feed. I snatched him off the roost this evening and lobbed off the feathers on his right wing. He wasn't too happy with me. They'll grow back eventually.

He's been in quite a tizzy since I separated out the Speckled Sussexes. He goes nuts when he sees Big John or Strut getting cozy with their 6 girls. I think it's hilarious. He can't figure out how to get into the chain link run, and I'm thinking that's great! LOLOLOL

Tomorrow I hope to get the chicken pens repaired. This winter was hard on the wire, and I need to get it fixed soon.

I've also penned up the ducks and geese, because they have thoroughly enjoyed yanking my onions up out of the ground. Can't have that, so they are in the pen until the gardens are either fenced or growing better.

Not much else is happening. I'll try to post some updated pics of some of our projects over the next few days, but no promises ya'll.

QA all I can say is you are a better woman than I will ever be. To have your home basically invaded (I know that sounds but it kinda fits) and to still have the attitude you have is inspiring. I love my family and if they were really in need I know I would do the sam - thing is I'd probably start out with "house rules". As a supervisor/menor once told me - it's easier to start out hard and lighten up than it is to start off easy and then try to get tougher. I know things will work out well for you and your family :hugs

I haven't ever worked fast food, but one of my friends started at Wendy's during college, when the first Wendy's opened in our area.

The only time he did not know the status of a job interview at Wendy's was when he was going for managerial positions, and then during his move to the corporate office.

It sounds like your nephew is really trying to make a life for himself. Years from now he will probably remember your open heart with great fondness. ;)
