I have heard that two bathrooms at a time could be a problem with one tankless unit.

WHEN ( I have quit saying if) we move and build our new house, I am going to make use of the point of use heaters more. Think you only have to supply ONE source water line to a bathroom, then split it in the bathroom to tankless heater and cold line. Could save a lot of money on plumbing pipe alone!

WOW! My journal grew 2 pages without me, and ya'll didn't seem to miss me, either  :gig

Totally fine, too! We had a problem with the phone, but thankfully the phone company had it fixed by 10 am this morning. Since the internet service comes through my phone line, I didn't have internet either!

Hey Aly, got a question for you. How long do you leave the ducklings in the brooder box? What chickens do you guys do for meat, if any?

I keep my ducks in a brooder for about 6 - 8 weeks and then I move them to the outside brooder.

They should be fully feathered by 12 weeks (3 months).

I don't do meat chickens. We have several dual purpose birds, but haven't brought myself to eating any yet.

I do meat birds lori. :drool

Usually I buy Cornish-Rocks from Welp hatchery. Love the birds and their service.

I have a couple of crosses that I would LOVE to try (if I ever get the space :duc ).

The first is Dark Cornish roo on Ameraucana hens and the second (probably the best idea) White Cornish roo on Delaware hens. Delawares were the original meat breed in the US and a heritage breed as well.

Anybody tried either of these crosses for meat ... or raise Delawares?

Had a pretty decent day today.

Scored a sheet of plywood 3/4 inch for 1/2 price from Lowe's because it had damage on one end of it. We needed to replace our Blue Heelers roof on his box, and even with having one end damaged, the plywood was enough to re-do the roof. Took us about 30 minutes to do. Put shingles on the plywood, and now Earnhardt won't have to worry about leaks during the next storm. :p

While we were at Lowe's we also picked up a sheet of OSB for my fancy coop and 5 more 2x4's. I now have more than enough to build my fancy coop...Now it's just a matter of finding the time to build it.

Tomorrow keljonma and her husband are bringing down The First Ladies and Sam. I am hoping the accomadations I fixed up for them are acceptable. The Ladies are used to having the best

We picked up a spud bar from TSC today. Needed it so we can tamp in posts.

Tomorrow my BLRW's will be moving into the new pen, I hope, and the Speckled Sussex will be moving back into the dog kennel area.

Had our first predator attack. Lost my Embden Gander and one pekin duck.

Monday I have some ducks and rabbits to take to the auction. Maybe a few chickens, too, as I've decided to let go of some of my Welsummer/Blue/Black/Splash/Barred Rock mixes. I've picked 2 blue hens to keep for my breeding project.

I have some EE and Silkie eggs due to hatch next week. Will probably sell the EE's as I have no use for keeping them. Yes, green eggs are pretty, but no one in my area seems to want to buy farm fresh green eggs.
