Can you head to the library & fax them the PROOF that they had the info? Wait, that's proof that THEY sent YOU!?! Why wouldn't they have it if they sent it to you :duc
:hugs to you :smack to them
:he grrrrr beauracracy!
Oh, I believe they have it, and she was trying to bluff me, because during our conversation today she spelled out the clinic's name and said, "Is that it?" I said yes and she said, "OK I just found it in the computer" and I said OH so it is in there and she said, "I mean I found the clinics name."

:th

So, she has the info in the computer, and like any govt. employee tried to back peddle when I called her on it.

BUT, even with it in there, she didn't send a release form to the surgeon, because I made the nurses up there check the files. And, since she said she will be faxing a release to them today, I WILL be calling the surgeon's office TOMORROW to be sure they got it.

The deadline for them to have a decision made is November 25, so this information NEEDS to be in there!

Thank goodness that you are as aggressive and sharp as you are, Aly, or just imagine how well it wouldn't go! I agree....I think they are trained to make this process as difficult as possible to discourage people from utilizing their rights to disability SS when they are injured.

There couldn't be THAT many stupid folks in one dept. of the gov't , could there? OH....what am I saying??? Of COURSE there could!!!! :he :he :he I used to work for the gov't! :p

Hugs to you and very proud that you are standing up for yourselves and keeping these folks on their toes! :hugs :thumbsup

:hugs praying

You certainly are having a bad week..... :hugs
Thanks, that's certainly an understatement, but I'm telling you, I'm betting God's ear is bent right now with all the praying I've been doing this week.

Ldychef2k= awful isn't it??!! They don't care about the health of the people AT ALL. They're mostly concerned with, "how much is it going to cost, and how can I spin it to line my pocket?"

Farmfresh= no thank you! if this is a taste of govt run health, then IMO people don't really know what they are asking for when they are asking for it. (and believe me, keep asking, ya'll will GET IT and then ya'll will wish you hadn't!)

Beekissed= Obviously you were a smart one, you got out!

There's more stuff going on, but that has to do with my animals and I'm not comfortable talking about that on the forums, but for the first time, I'm medicating folks. It was that, or lose everything we've worked for. I can't afford to start over, so I'm doing the best I can to save who I can, and sadly, I'm having to cull some out, too.

I had sick, and I mean really sick, chickens this week. Four of them were quarantined because they were the worst off. Bubbly, swollen eyes, and very lethargic.

One blue d'Uccle pullet had something else going on entirely, and while I was trying to decided to cull or not, she thankfully keeled over on her own.

Been giving them some antibiotics in their water, but we're pretty sure they have CRD and that Lady Bird also has the dry form of Fowl Pox as well as the CRD.

My Orp pen started sneezing, too, and I started them on the Duramyacin at the first sign of symptoms. It's a 3 day treatment, but by day 2, all of their symptoms were gone and they're acting now like they were never sick to begin with.

I never wanted to medicate my flock.

Today, the kids and I spent the entire day sanitizing everything. All the waterers were scrubbed and rinsed with white distilled vinegar and water. Quarantine cages were scrubbed and sprayed with a bleach/water solution. Everything was set into the sun to dry.

Then I used the water and bleach mix to spray all the roosts and the coop walls and left it to air dry.

Quarantine cages were moved to separate part of the property and weatherized to keep the three still in quarantine safe from predators and elements. They don't have much room, but they are protected and have food and water. Thankfully they do all have good appetites.

Am picking up more yogurt and garlic tonight as well as ACV. Hoping we're over the "hump" here, but not sure. Two of the birds in quarantine are black d'Uccles. The pullet has one eye matted shut, the cockerel can open his eyes, but seems to prefer keeping them closed. Probably will pick up some kind of opthalmic solution tonight as well that I can put on their eyes.

LOTS of hand sanitizer being used here between handling of birds to keep from spreading it. So far, nothing has spread and no new birds sick.

The main coop hasn't seem to be affected at all, no birds sneezing or anything in the big coop. It seems just my Orp and Bantam coops were affected. Only 5 of my bantams were affected, and 1 of them made a quick recovery. 1 died, 2 still in Quarantine, and the last one is still sneezing, but no bubbly eyes.

So, now I'm just feeling drained. We're supposed to go out, five hours of babysitting ya know, but I just want to relax and maybe take a nap now??

Got a pot of coffee on, smells good, so hoping that helps perk me up a bit.

Tomorrow, if the two d'Uccles with swollen eyes aren't showing improvements, we'll be putting them down. I just can't take the risk to the rest of my flock.

I'm not sure yet how this will affect my poultry business. I can't in good conscience sell hatching eggs now, because even though I've read CRD isn't passed on from parent stock to egg to chick, I'm not so sure I want to risk that chance. Could kill my business at once. I mean, not everyone has been sick, but I can't guarantee that not everyone has been exposed? Make sense?

Going back to maintaining a closed flock. Nothing comes in anymore unless I hatch them in my 'bator.

I read that not even the hatcheries are free from these respiratory diseases, they are only pullorum/typhoid free, so that means this CRD passing through now was most likely already in my flock.

With the fowl pox, at least with that once they recover from it they're immune to it like humans when they contract chicken pox.

On the positive side, all those feeders/waterers are now sparkling like they're brand new!

Wow, sorry to hear about the outbreak. Glad you didn't have many losses. :hugs

Take a power nap before its babysitter time :) Date nights are so special an opportunity, you don't want to pass out halfway through it ;)
