Great pics! I love how you can see the whites of Blessing's eyes as she's drinking! I think I can honestly say I've never seen an ugly baby animal :love

Catchy little diddy you got there Aly!

Wow, I honestly have to say that I like Trouble better :hide I love the coloring, probably why I like Nigerian dwarf goats too cause they are all kinds of crazy colors.

I can imagine going down the road with a cow in your van and stopping at a red light and really freaking out the car next to you! :gig

Well, seems like i've not been finding much time to be online.

Soon as i pop on, something needs done, and i gotta go again.

Went to auction yesterday...got enough straw at a cheap enough price to *hopefully* last us the rest of the winter.

We are skipping E's pain management appointments this week, because well, they have about 2 feet (or more) snow up there, and we've had more dumped over night, and we're supposed to get 2 inches a day every day for the next week.

Pain management can kiss my butt. If they think I'm going to drive 2 hours in this mess, I'm going to give THEM some pain management.

So I'm sure I'll be calling them later today to reschedule his appointments. I don't think he's minding at all LOL

Back to auction....remember I said I was only going for straw???

:hide

They have tables of misc stuff they auction off before they get out to hay and straw. There was a sony cd player, brand new in the box, or so I thought, and the box had been opened. They did that box right before they started the eggs. Eggs are the last thing auctioned off before hay and straw.

So, here i'm ready to bid on a radio, and it's a rabbit! A cute little white with brown markings buck rabbit.

No one was bidding on poor bunny. Finally someone bid him at 50 cents. E was with me and friend R, and he comments, "he's a cute one"

and I said, "what do you think?"

he said, "up to you.."

and I kid you not, right after, the auctioneer, who by now recognizes me by the neon flashing sign on my forehead that says "S U C K E R" looks at me and R and says, "What about you ladies? what do you think?"

So, I brought home a bunny for $1. :hide

Cracked up laughing about it the whole way home.

We also managed to get a stack of square straw bales for $2.25 a bale, and then another stack for $3.25 a bale. Not bad, when they are normally going for $4-$4.50 a bale this time of year. And the feed stores are all selling their straw for $6 a bale.

Then our friend R scored some nice green 3rd cutting hay for $1.75 a bale. E says it's because it was the last square bale hay being auctioned off before the round, and the other farmers had already grabbed up their hay (at $3+ a bale!!!)

So, we had a lot of straw and hay to load up and take home. We went back to get R's husband to help because E can't do the bales. We split the straw 3 ways between R, Becca, and me and R also offered us 3 bales of the hay. Told her we didn't need the hay, as we have plenty, but she suggested I take it to feed to the rabbits and for Trouble and Blossom, see if we can encourage them to nibble on some hay.

And then it was off to TSC for scratch, electolytes for Trouble who's exhibiting some symptoms of scours right now, and a bag of calf milk replacer.

Trouble: yesterday we noticed he was kind of staggering around, and we saw him have a bout of diarrhea. I shoved some scours meds down his throat before going to the auction, and by the time we got home he was already acting better. Last night he didn't drink his bottle down as fast as he normally does, but he was still up and walking.

This AM he was standing when I went out, but staggering around, so repeat of scour meds followed by his milk replacer, followed by another bottle of electrolytes.

Yesterday I picked up a bucket for their water and a small pan to put chop/hay in to encourage eating of more solid foods.

It's so cold that snot freezes in ones nose, and makes it nearly impossible to breathe through your nose out there, not without pulling nostril hairs when you inhale! and that hurts!

Sounds like you had a productive day!

Glad to hear E's appt has been cancelled. We got 30" of snow over the week-end and 10" yesterday. The snow is still coming down and latest reports are saying anywhere from 6 to 10 inches per day for the next 5 days!

Stay warm.....
