I would think that you could find plans for something like Meyer's offering (online or in a book) for free or, at the least, for much less than what Meyer is asking for it. Just a thought. I know both you and E are very handy.... look at what you have built on your own without formal plans!

Praying for the running water... it sounds like the second guy's quote is reasonable. I would imagine that running water would make winter a bit more bearable. And that not fetching water from the spring would save you time and storage space. You could save the jugs for emergency water supply, or for hot caps in the garden, or feeders/waterers. :D

I hear the weather is supposed to be near 57 later this week. The trip to Y'town should be uneventful! Hope to see you this week-end!

keljonma, I think that's a good idea. I've actually been looking over the photos in their catalog enough that I think I could figure out how to do it myself - make my own plans I think - and do it.

I got my first call duck egg today! from a blue fawn pied call duck...I've had people asking if I'll be selling their eggs, and well, I've just been waiting for them to start laying!

So, I'm undecided - for the first time ever I want to do a "pre-sale" of sorts in auction form on BYC - just to see what someone would be willing to pay for them, because i have no idea what price to put on them.

The breeder we purchased them from said she sold them on eBay last year for $39 a dozen....but I don't know if that includes shipping or not - and I'm pretty positive they are fertile, as the drake has definitely been fulfilling his duty for the last two+ weeks -

I mean, what else was he supposed to do, they were snowed in, too!

edited for typo-

Wow. Well prices sure are cheap out your way. We put in a well on our property for irrigation of the vineyard and the plants/trees/shrubs I've been planting. Got three bids and had to still pay 10K.

I hope your bid is firm and that water is right there, free flowing and wonderful for you!!

prices are lower here, for sure, than out in Ca, but this price is JUST the drilling of the well and capping it.

It doesn't include electrical, pump, holding tank, or piping it into the house. We're going to do all that ourselves, because it will save us a little bit of money to do it ourselves.

We may still be hauling water for a couple months after the well is drilled, depending on how fast we get the pump and holding tank set up.

Yeah, that's a great price. Our quote on a 100' well is $10,000. We already have everything else, as we have a holding tank that we fill with town water, but for the well alone, we are better off to do it the way we are doing it now.

OMG ya'll, this has just been a great day!

AND - this well is really happening!!!! the guys that will be doing the drilling came out this evening - of course it was right at the time I was supposed to be leaving with the kiddos for our 4-H meeting, but what the heck, won't kill them to be late for 4-H.

Anyhoo - he came out and marked where he wants to put our well.

OMG CAN YOU BELIEVE IT?!

So, they actually found 2 spots they really like for the drilling, but they said when they come back in 4-6 weeks to commence well making, they'll decide which of the two will be the best spot.

OMG 4-6 weeks!!! :ya :weee

Nine years of hauling water - nine years of waiting, trying to get one, not succeeding - it all ends in roughly 4-6 weeks!!!

*faints*
