I am plugging in the 'bators!!!!!!! My mom's bringing me eggs on Monday, and I'm going to be setting a bunch of mutt eggs!! WOOT!

On top of that, 3 pairs of bantams will be moving into the house, to see if we can encourage some mating and egg laying to help get a head start on the spring hatching...hehehe and maybe so I can offer up some hatching eggs. We'll have to see.

So I'll be bringing in Robert and Fran, my pair of Quail Antwerps, and setting them up into their own large abode complete with roosts, feed/water, and a nesting area. And maybe a little dust box, for dusting! Pepper and Henny, our silver duckwings, will also be getting a chicken condo, as will Cricket and Elizabeth or Ruth, or maybe both. I think I can fit a trio in there. :) I have 2 roos and 3 hens of the Mille Fleur, so I might see what I can set up so I can go ahead and separate them into a trio and a pair...

Regardless, I'm super excited that DH is letting me get going already! WOOT!! I think he agreed partly because he knows I'm going NUTS with all this winter, and partly because he knows by the time the chicks hatch, people will be looking for chickens!!!

I am so excited!!

Hello, Okiemommy! I hope you are staying warm, assuming you are in a cold environment like we are. LOL
It was in the 60's today. 70's in some places here in the state. :D :hide :hide :hide :hide :hide

Good luck with all the "Chicken Amore". Maybe add some wine and candles and soft music.

ROTFL OH no, I forgot, I have two Elizabeths out there! Her Royal Highness Elizabeth, who's the boss of the yard, and Mille Fleur Bantam named Elizabeth...who's the polar opposite of her Royal Highness.

I'm working on giving Monroe and Elizabeth their own little love shack. :D

Things are OK here today. My mom came over and helped out for a bit. My 13 year old brother was NOT thrilled with carrying in firewood, but mom made him do it anyway lol

Chickerdoodles were enjoying the warmer day, that was for sure. I think my two light brahma roos can probably go back outside tomorrow. They are doing very well.

These warm days are really teasers aren't they? It was almost 60 degrees here today.

Glad you could get some help today.

Today is stretching out as a long day. It's not too bad outside, but inside, I've got a bedridden hubby barking orders! He can't get up and do for himself, so he'll want something done and sure, don'tcha know he's gonna ask right while I'm in the middle of doing something??? So then because I didn't stop what I was doing and move to do what he asked, he's getting up to try and do it himself!! I grabbed the ducktape and threatened him. He's back to behaving and staying in his recliner now. :gig

I let Levi and Aaron, my light brahma roos, go back outside. Both boys were flexing and curling their toes realy well, so I don't think there is any lasting damage, other than a few lost toenails. :)
Sgt Pepper and Henny Penny have moved in the house, and they have a temporary third wheel, Fran my Quail Antwerp Hen. :) Now just hoping that being in the warm house, not having to compete with other chickens for food, :fl maybe Pepper will get busy with "his" ladies and maybe the ladies will start laying :)

The chicks are going to be moved out of the brooder into another pen as well and I am going to close off the small opening at the top that the Milles like to squeeze through to get in and Monroe and Elizabeth are going to move in. :D I was hoping to get that done today, but didn't trust leaving DH in the house alone that long. If he is left unattended, he'll try to get up and do something.

Henny Penny has already nestled down in the straw I've put in for them. I am hoping that is a good sign. Everytime someone walks through where their "coop" is Pepper screams a warning. Yea, no one's going to be sneaking through here! Not with Sgt Pepper on guard!
