I AM SO READY TO QUIT DRIVING FOR THESE CHEAP ARSE AMISH!!!!!!

and I don't NOT mean that in the nicest of ways!!!!

These people try to talk down the price we set to charge!!! we raised our rates by 5 cents because gas has jumped. and jumped and jumped.

The person who just called me wanted me to do a drive job, 55 miles one way, drop off his wife and leave her there. We charge round trip, even if we drop them off and don't bring any back. He only wanted to pay 50 cents a mile, which is waaay less than what we charge, and I told him I couldn't do that with the gas being so high - i'd only make about $10 after putting gas in the van.

He was disgusted with me. and i with him.

everytime I drive for one of the amish around here, I get, "oh that's too much $" well know what?? they chose to be amish and they knew DARN WELL that a horse and a buggy would be their accepted means of travel.

And I'm sorry, I'm not going to kill my van just to make $10 a trip. It is NOT happening. We just spent $100 replacing the battery, and I shouldn't have to do $10 drive jobs to make that money back.

Screw THEM.

Ya'll can blame it on hormones I guess - but it really chaps my rear!!!! :rant

oh and let's not forget, they all know i raise poultry and have incubators, and they are constantly asking me to incubate for them. when i told the one guy that it's a $1 an egg set, then $1 per baby that hatches, he said that's too much and he'll just go to a hatchery if he has to pay $2 a baby.

So he'd rather I'd just keep half of what hatches - well that doesn't pay the electric bill!!

oh, and it's turkeys he's wanting to hatch - those aren't $2 at a hatchery!!!

I wouldn't do it either. Simple cost-benefit... If they don't make it worth your while, that's that.

Aly be careful we had a thread closed for speaking ill of the Amish a couple weeks ago. :idunno

I feel for you. Do they understand how expensive gas is and the cost of wear and tear on your car? If they do and are just being cheap then tell them to take a hike!! Ha literally!!! The Amish are pretty frugal aren't they??

Yeh, but that was snarky and pointless. This is "this incident angered me". I can tell that she'd be feeling this way no matter WHO was using her, it just happens to be the Amish. Just my opinion.
