So for headstart, baby boy needs a physical and a dental exam. Ok. No problem. They just told us this on Friday, and gave us the physical and dental forms. Today is Tuesday. I haven't got an appt for him with either the pediatrician or the dentist YET but they are on my to do list.

1) We're in the process of looking for a new pediatrician, because once again ours is OUT OF THE COUNTRY and I told them this on Friday.

2) The local dentist doesn't take our insurance, so I have to get ahold of the dentist that is almost an hour away that DOES take our insurance, and be sure that I have the gas $ to get Baby boy there.

3) I was just told we needed these things on FRIDAY so give me a chance to get it done, people.

So we take Baby Boy to his first day of school and eat lunch with him. We of course are finished first, and Baby Boy is showing them what a great appetite he has by eating all his fruits and vegetables, so we take that opportunity to sneak out (to avoid the melt down as he'd already said he wanted to go home).

We didn't make it out the door without Miss. M cornering us. I explained Baby Boy won't be in school tomorrow because I have to get blood work done in the morning AND I have my weekly Dr. appt in the afternoon - so there won't be anyone here to get him onto the bus.

Miss M. replies: "he's getting his physical tomorrow then?"
me: Um, no, I have a Dr. appt. His physical isn't scheduled yet.
Miss M. : OK well he needs that physical and dental appt ASAP
me: well, Miss B said we have until mid September, and we are having to work around a few things
Miss M: well, he needs a hemo and a lead test.
me: he needs a whatta what?!
Miss M: was he in wic?
Me: yes
Miss M: Ok I can get the hemo from them, but you need to get his Dr. to write down his lead levels for me and get that dental appointment as soon as possible.
me: staring blankly
E: and this is why we withdrew the last kid! first day of school and already it's nag nag nag!

on the way to the car...

me: *still trying to figure out what the heck just happened*
E: *grumbling* this is why we took A out. It was nag nag nag all the time. Even if you had those scheduled I bet they would find something else to nag about. We shouldn't have put him in. We should have just stuck to our original plan and did pre-school at home. Stupid school. Don't think about what we've got going on, and you're having a baby soon, and we're supposed to work all this in before the baby arrives..
me: *jogging to keep up* I guess we can take him back out, but what a waste of time...
E: no, leave him in for now, but if they are going to start this crap already - well, we'll see.

aaaaaahhhhhhhhhhhhhhh oh the headache.

And, to top it off, our Bourbon Red tom kicked the bucket today, and this morning DD and I had to chase a chicken hawk off the top of our coop.

And my FIL was down nagging for pie.

And what is this about lead levels?

Although, since headstart is used by and for low income families, I can see why all the medical fuss. They go WAY overboard because some families are very neglectful.

That is great about the pies!!! I would love to be quality control too but I'm gluten intolerant.....dang it. :tongue

I can't believe what a score you got on the clothes! You're gonna need to build on another room just for clothes storage

Are you feeling better today?

The headstart always requires a lead test, and our pediatrician usually tests at 1 year - but baby boy has seen the pediatrician we have less than the other kids because he's almost ALWAYS out of the country! so I can't remember if he already had the lead test or not. If he did, it was 2 years ago.

They brush their teeth at school after lunch and learn songs - and it was supposed to give me a few hours of no kids in the house daily not add more stress. lol

Lori, I'm feeling Ok. Had a lot of lower back pain last night, but I took a warm shower and used the massage setting on the shower head and it helped A LOT. And then I went to bed.

No no , I don't want her tomorrow! I want her to wait until at least September 1st! Weird, call me crazy, but I want each of my kids to have their own birth month! My second son is an August baby. I've had a horrible feeling that I'll go to my appt tomorrow and doc will send me to the hospital! She just needs to hold off until at least Thursday!

My parents want her to wait until the end of the first full week in September, because they are planning to buy the carseat - and next week is when they are planning to get it (not cutting it close at all, right?)

I will honestly say as much of a headache as the public schools are, my kids really do better in that setting. I really struggled with the homeschooling because it was too easy to say, "we need to do this today, so schoolwork will wait until later" or when we were doing the work, I would lose their attention or they wouldn't respect me as their instructor as well as mom.

IF I could make homeschooling work, I'd give it a try again. But when number 4 was getting to the schooling age I was flipping out because I was struggling to school 3 and didn't know how I'd manage 4!

I don't know how I would do more than 2 kids, honestly. I'm glad mine are so close in age that I can combine lots of things for the two of them. If it comes down to it I would put them in school but at least we have the choice and for now it works.

I can totally understand about the separate birth months! My son's birthday is the last of February and then hubby's is 10 days later and then DD's is 10 days after that. We always have to combine into one big party. We take each person out for lunch or dinner anywhere they want to go on their actual birthdays but we have one big cookout for all three smack dab in the middle. Then mine is in June and I get nothing.
