Congrats on all the peeps, sold peeps, and geese!!

Pam, we didn't take them. We decided to keep them for a little while because they started popping out eggs :gig Guess they wanted to prove they are worth their keep, and DH really likes the banty eggs for breakfast. Go figure!

Awwwwwwwwww, Quail!!! You got geese!!!! I haven't been able to open any of my PMs for the last few days and Nifty can't find out why, so I didn't know this!

This is what I think of that, girly-girl!!! :smack Why don't I ever find deals like that? :p :D

Told you that you would get that calf back! ;)

I saw a pic of someone loading a full grown alpaca in a mini-van once....a chevy conversion should have no problems! I used to haul everything in my Plymouth Voyager! And I do mean everything!

OK - THAT last comment reminds me of this weird photo I found recently when surfing the internet.

So much for a single Alpaca in a van!

Farmfresh, that pic cracked me up!!

DH used to have an '82 Pontiac Firebird hatch back...he hauled pigs, goats, and even cows in the hatch of that thing :gig

Another time they (DH and his dad) bought 2 pigs and were hauling them home in the back of a truck with a cap. One pig managed to slide the window open, and it jumped out going 55 mph down the road. FIL turns the truck around to go get escaped pig. They see it in someone's yard tearing up all a flower garden, rooking everything up....and they kept on goin'! :ep

I figure if we're meant to have an Alpaca, we will. I would like to start with a Cria. Or two. We'll just have to see how things go the next few weeks. :)

Only problem I'm having right now is, Crazy Chicken Farmer no longer fits me

Just wanted to add, another couple at the auction had a pick up with a cap on it smaller than our van, and they loaded the back with a full sized billy goat and then crammed calf after calf after calf in after the goat. They were literally smooshed wall to wall in the back of that truck!

Here's pics of our two new calves!

This is DH's calf, 145, the one who got away and then came back. I was so happy he came back! I just know God had His hand on the whole situation!

This is the second calf, 135, who I really wanted, but since it was my husband's dream to have cattle, I chose his calf for my highest bid, until they told me I could have my choice of how many I wanted. :)

I just want to say to anyone who is reading my journal and all of our ups and downs, etc...We really have HAD a rough 3 years, and this is starting into year 4 (April 25 marks 4 years) and to be completely honest, I spent a lot of time being angry and bitter.

I'm trying really hard to put God in control of everything, and give Him the honor and glory for all the good.

The last few weeks the blessings just seem to be pouring on us. I have seen the works He can do when we let him!

LOL I read this to my husband and my mom last night and they were ROTFL and said they wouldn't be surprised either....and um..well.......

We found out about someone locally who's selling Crias. They are about a 20 minute drive from us, and we might go talk to them. See what their prices are, what I need to have fixed up for a Cria before I get one, etc.....so who knows???????? If God wills it to be so, I won't argue!!!!!

Yes, we always name them. Cattle are the ONLY animals we will name even if we plan to eat them because they learn their names and will come when called. The calf with the heart is mine, and the brown calf is DH's. His calf we plan to raise up and sell and use the $ from that to add another head or two of beef. Mine's a Jersey Semintal (sp?) cross, but he's going to be raised up as our "lead" steer...basically tame him down and when we call him in, the others will follow (best case scenario LOL). I think I am going to call him Herbie. I'm going to give it a few more days before I definitely decide.

Well, I know they have the crias...we saw them in the front yard LOL right now it's a matter of how much? Or would they be willing to work out arrangements with us for me to get one. I mean, if they wanted me to come in and work putting in x amount of hours a week cleaning barns, feeding/watering, etc. and work for my Cria, I would so be there! But I also want to talk to these people and ask them a lot of questions about Alpaca care, etc before I jump in that boat.

ETA:
I forgot to add these pics.
First one is Bambi, then my quad of Embden Geese.
