Well hello from VA!!! I grew up close to the NC line so I feel like a southerner too!

I can't wait to see what kind of projects you get into! My hubby thought I was on crack when I started all this too and now he preaches about feedlot raised meat and hormones and antibiotics and being self sufficient to anyone who will listen! He even likes the chickens now too!

How would one go about getting one of those? I like the sound of it myself!

A big welcome from Wa state Queen, great pix.Don't worry about your DH mine is the same way.

I got the biggest surprise last night when he said" you know all that water that runs down the drain when we are waiting for it to get hot?well we should ge a bucket and catch it and use it for other stuff' I almost fell over, so see it takes time but your DH may just surprise you lol.

Have you thought of sell your wares on craigslist or at a local shop,or farmers market. people love handmade stuff.

This is a great group of people and they are all very knowledgeable so stop by often, but remember it is also addicting lol
I would like to. Goodness knows we need the money. There is a farmer's market around here and a few flea markets. How do you get set up at those places? Just show up with a table and a chair, or what? :D

If it works out the way I want, I am going to have a huge garden at some point next year. Which means lots of veggies to sell, so I need to figure it out eventually!

Under the Main header is "Sufficient Self- News & Information & Feedback. In that is "Member Titles" but here is the quick link to click on to the most recent page:
http://www.sufficientself.com/forum/viewtopic.php?id=772&p=29

There you can ask our moderator if you can have it or another one for your member title.

Well Queenred, around here they usually advertise for venders in the newspaper. Or you could just go the markets and ask other venders and Iam sure they would give you the info on stall size and price and who to get in touch with. Good luck, let us know how it goes.

Well, I have an update.

First off, we had a cutie pie little stray puppy wander up the other day. I wish I could have gotten a picture of her before we took her to the pound, which was a heart breaking experience. Anyway, I named her Dahlia. I have no idea what kind of dog she was, but she had a face shaped sort of like a chow-chow and the rest of her was wavy black hair. She was so tiny and so cold. I just couldn't kick her outside.

The whole reason she was let inside, which I knew would lead to unhappy things for me as we couldn't keep her, was that she was sitting behind the car and my DH was trying to leave. Well, she was the sweetest thing. She came right to me and licked and jumped around. She couldn't have been more than a year old, if that. I didn't have any dog food to feed her so I fed her muffins. That dog could shred some muffins too. There was bits everywhere. Even in the car.

She ended up having to stay in the back room, which has the least amount of furniture and no cats. :) However, she started tearing up the carpet so she had to go out in the back yard. I left the shed open and shut the gate so she wouldn't scamper off and could have somewhere to go in case it rained. Poor little thing was so cold in the morning.

I fed the little darling and warmed her up. She gave some very grateful kisses.

Then we took the long trip to the animal shelter. She sat in my lap the whole time. I think she felt safe with me.

I wish we could have kept her, but for one she wasn't the dog for us. Two, she tore up things. Three, we don't have the money to buy her food or take her to the vet. So, maybe it's for the best. I felt so bad when I put her in that cage. She looked at me like, "what's going on?"

I nearly cried.

Later that day I had a job interview. I think it went well and soon I should get a call about a follow up interview with the owner.

Also, not sure if potatoes will make it. I cut them up and right after that it has rained for 3 days strait. I am hoping to get out there tomorrow so I can get some soil and plant them.

Do I plant them eye up or down, just out of curiosity?

I've always heard to plant cut side down. I don't usually cut mine, but plant them whole.
