I know your feelings. It is such a pain for your peace and quiet to be constantly interrupted by jerks. Here in the big city we have cars with "BOOM BOOM - BOMP...BOOM BOOM - BOMP...BOOM BOOM - BOMP..." ghetto blasters in their car hitting so loud the windows on my house shake as the car goes by every ten minutes all summer long. :somad :tongue

LOL  FF we sometimes have that, too. Or dirt bikes and four wheelers going to the VFW that is beside the generic Goodwill. They go one way fast and come back really slow and usually drunk a few hours later. One guy makes the trip a couple of times a day on an old four-wheeler with his wife/girlfriend or whatever. We know him, he lost his license for drunk driving. In one mile we have a bait shop/deli, a gas station, a generic Goodwill, and the VFW and a trailer park at both ends and I am really starting to HATE it!! I would literally die in a city!!

Well here is another place I am going to send dh to go see. It is a fixer-upper on 2.5 acres a few miles south of fil. I have been literally spending hours looking for places in our price range(which is truly zero until we get something sold) and praying that we will find the right place that we all like and that we will be able to get it. I know nothing about buying land. I wonder if there is some way to get a loan on the land we are trying to sell for the amount that we will need to pay off our debts and put down a down payment? Then pay off the loan when it sells? I am not sure we have good enough credit for another loan though to pay off the first one. We still need some time before we can put this place up to finish cleaning it up and possibly finish tearing down a falling down shed. I am just totally not knowing how to go about all this. Dh said today that he and his dad are going to visit realty offices tomorrow and he is going to start bringing our stuff and camper down as soon as the kids are out of school to stay behind his dad's house until we get something else. He has made arrangements for a place to keep our horses, chickens, ducks and geese. His cousins wife offered to let the horses stay at their place with her horse so we could all go riding together. The poultry can stay with fil's chickens. I guess we will have to find a new home for our beagle. I really hate that-there are enough homeless dogs as there is without trying to find homes for any of ours(which were homeless or almost when we got them). I am going to dig up some of my berries and roses of course. Dh's cousin's wife seems to be really a sweet person. Since I have little to no daily contact with adults other than dh(who is gone this week!) I am really looking forward to having someone to talk to after we move. Dh just ignores me, I can tell him something and he answers then if I ask him what he thought he just gets a blank stare and asks me if I said something. It is really frustrating.

Dh's mom found another place on the internet and from the pics I absolutely fell in love with it. It was a fixer-upper that had been started remodeled and then they quit while it was all still torn apart. They had redone the kitched though and it was my dream kitchen from the pics. It was really pretty, but that was all they had redone. It was on 2.5 acres and the house was pinkish with blue trim. It was cute, but you could see it needed a little work. he went out there and looked at it. he said it was very disappointing. It was in WAY worse shape than the pics showed and it was beside a cemetary. So far we have found nothing that has been in our price range that has been even remotely what we are looking for. It still would have been okay. We want a fixer-upper, but the deal breaker was the cemetary. I have an unreasonable fear of them, especially in a state that is already known for being haunted! :hide I guess it just gives us more time to get this place ready and sold, so when we do get a place it will be with cash!

I know when hubby and I were looking for a place we would literally drive around, find abandoned houses, find out who owned the deed and ask them if they wanted to sell... sometimes the houses were listed for sale, other times they weren't...

It took us two years, and 34 houses... but we finally found one we could buy. We were really limited by the fact we can't qualify for a mortgage so the owners had to be willing to sell, and willing to rent-to-own...

We got a 3 bed, 2 bath house on an acre of land for $25,000.

When we moved in there was no running water and no electricity... but it only took a few weeks of 'roughing it' to get the house livable and now we're slowly fixing it up to be beautiful. We assume when we're done we'll sell the house for around $100K (our next door neighbour is selling a similar house now for $169K) and buy our dream farm with that... without ever having to get a mortgage.

It can be done.. It can be really discouraging, and I know I had a few teary nights... but in the end it's worth it when you find the perfect place to make into your home!

Good luck with your house search :thumbsup

Welcome to my world, sister!! That is what happens here too. I was extremely upset by it for months and months, and only recently have begun to calm down about it - somewhat. He blames his not listening due to that he has other things on his mind, like finishing this house we are building. I blame it on his poor hearing (too many rock concerts when he was young) and his not really wanting to hear me. I don't nag, I don't whine (too much) and when I tell him things, I want him to remember. But instead, I have to repeat something mostly three times over a few days, of which he has no recollection of the first two times I said it. Aaaauuuuggghhh!!! :rant

I just killed a 58 inch black snake eating my new chicks!!! DD went outside then came running in screaming, "snake!!" I of course ran outside and sure enough it was a HUGE chicken snake eating my chicks. It ate 2, squished 2 more but it let go of the 5th in it's mouth when I went to beating it with whatever I could find. I yelled at DS to get a stick, but he just had a panicked look so I got brave and grabbed it by the tail and SLUNG it out of the pen before it could do any more damage! We still have 30 babies left which will now be brought inside where it is safe! After we hacked it with a shovel a few times ds and I measured it. From head to tail was 58 inches!! It is not unusaul around here to find one 4 feet long, but I've never seen one until now nearly 5 feet long!!
