Glad to hear the horse is better as well. :)

Speaking of CL...have you checked to see if anyone is offering to sell an old horse trailer? Or are you certain it would be only sold for scrap? Just asking, b/c I've heard lots of stories about theives getting caught when they try to sell things on CL, & the rightful owners recognize the item. :/

After reading what you said about CL I did a search of all the craigslists I could find in the state and in south MO. I think it is finally dawning on DH the reality of what happened when he needed the trailer today to load some old lawn mowers. After having time to think about it he sat down with me and we made a list of every little detail about it that I could add to the police report and he is going to go with me in the morning to drive around and go to the scrap metal places. We are mostly thinking scrap because it was old and metal prices are through the roof right now. It was still quite useable though.
Anyway today is DD's 9th birthday. We are waiting until next Sat to celebrate it though. She is getting $50 worth of plants and her choice of some chicks or ducks or her choice of a toy. She chose the plants and chicks or ducks since she knew that she would be getting toys from grandparents. It is depressing how quick they grow up.

If I had been given that choice as a child, I would have also chosen the plants and animals. They're way more interesting than any toy!

I think poultry and plants are way better than toys too! Hehe when I was a kid, I had a model farm and any "toys" I wanted were always just more model pieces, and here she's getting the real thing! Sounds good to me. :)

I am really sorry to hear about your trailer. I hope it turns up, since you have some ideas where to look. And glad the horse is ok!

Well I know the subject is getting old and I am going to try not to post anything else about it here other than what happened today. We got a call from an investigator about the horse trailer. We also drove around to scrap yards. Two of them took our name number and a description of the trailer. The other one we weren't able to get to because dh had to get some sleep before work and it was about 50 miles the other direction. I called however and they had received several horse trailers and were very helpful. Asked if we had an idea who stole it and offered to look up their records to see if that person had brought in one! We are planning to make a trip there as soon as we can. The only thing is that most things are crushed immediately. I would be dissapointed, but if we could find who did it then I would feel so much better. I am trying my best to not be so upset about the whole thing, but it is really hard. The fact dh was scammed $250 on a CB for his truck the same day it was stolen just makes it even harder. BTW we learned to check out websites no matter how authentic they seem before we order from any ever again. All that along with everything that was stolen while in LA is just too much for me. I want SOMEONE to be made responsible for SOMETHING!!! To a certain extent I realize that we are to blame for leaving it unprotected, but at what extent are we to live our lives with chains on everything and our guard up for fear of it disappearing?

That's rough. It amazes me in a way. Around here, you 'll drive thru an area, and see everything that can be stolen chained to a tree, a porch, or whatever. Then you get to the area where I live and basically, nothing is locked up. :hugs

We get a lot of theft around here. So far no one has yet been IN the house ... BIG DOGS and poverty seem to help us most. We HAVE had our lawn mower stolen in broad daylight from the front porch, our cars regularly pilfered (we have learned NOT to lock them so we don't have to constantly replace the windows. :/ )

Every summer lots of our neighbors get robbed, and things stolen from their yards. One year it was propane tanks continually stolen. The police thought that it was someone with a meth lab using the propane to cook (We are the meth capital of the US! .... go us. :/ ) Another year it was odd because lawn ornaments were the target! If you had a gazing ball BEWARE!

People are just stupid and EVIL. I get REAL tired of it.
