I am so impressed. You have been a busy little bee. Can you send me some of those cherries. Thats one of my favorites.

My eggs are all gone. I blew them out and had them sitting to dry out for a few days before I tried my hand at painting and decorating. During her cleaning spree my DD moved a magazine off the counter and accidently hit the eggs. They scattered like paper pieces across the floor. She started crying "Oh Momma, I am so sorry". She was so upset. I blew it off as if it did not matter because she was so upset. But, behind my smile was some disappointment. But I will try to get started again and see what happens. No since crying over a few cracked eggs. Right.

how delicate are those ornaments after?
I would be afraid just to get near them...LOL
Do they stand up well after painted or do they usually have a short life. In my household their life would not be long. :(

2Dream sorry to hear about your eggs but you are so right...there will be more! In the grand scheme of life it was not worth making your DD feel worse than she already did!

My duck eggs have really strong shells. We give our chickens/ducks oyster shells. After mine were done they were knocked around into each other several times and dropped on the ground (carpet) a couple of times (thanks to kids and a tall DH) and I only had one that got a fingerprint size dent.

The eggs are fairly strong. The shells are pretty thick. I wonder when they will get thinner......
I have plans for when that happens tho. 2dream, I am sorry about the eggs but there will be more. The next ones will be better than the first. Make sure you take pics too!!
I dont think I can send you any cherries, they are spiked, I would need to see some I.D
FC, I think the paint helps strengthen them.

I am saddened by all of you :hit . No one even wanted to try the chocolate covered lemon or lime peel?

I imagine if you're in need of a taste tester, I can volunteer! I'll need at least 5 pieces of each, to be fair, I cant give it a true taste with just one (actually, I would get mugged if I didnt share with everyone here)...
Just kidding, it all sounds wonderful!

I'm going to try to find my moms old recipe for this really simple candy Bon Bons, it had powdered suger, sweetened condensed milk, coconut, walnuts and vanilla....it may have had something else too though....then she dipped the balls in melted chocolate with some parafin in it...I wish I could find that recipe! Have you ever made anything like that??

What happens to lemon or lime peel when you cover it with chocolate...is it any better covered with chocolate? Interesting!

Keep cooking! Keep posting!

tfpets - that sounds like Martha Washington Balls. I think my mom has that recipe somewhere. I will look for it for you.

RM - You just made my day. Been a while since anyone ask me for my ID.

Well everyone seemed to like the spiked chocolate covered cranberries better than the cherries. They did turn to liquid, we didnt think they were going to.
They all loved (coworkers) the eggs I made. And I made enough of them too! thank god.
I just looked out the window at the thermometer.........it is -18 outside. pretty cold in the house too. I am going down to turn the double trouble light on for the chooks.
