Read your blog, and I have a question, did you deliberately misspell forever as furever since it's talking about dogs? I was ready to point it out to you, then figured it may have been an intended pun.

Rescue folk always use that dumb pun. Maybe I'll change it if it appears like a typo. That first piece is kinda important for setting the tone, it is on the About Me spot too. Or maybe I should put quotes around it. I want that page to have a special drawing on it but haven't even gotten started on that. I'm trying to figure out how to work the dang thing, I'm not too computer savvy. I'm sure Computer Nerd gave a big sigh when he heard I wanted to do this. :hide I'm probably his worst client, but the only one who makes him dinner and scrubs the tub. I told him he was off dishes duty for awhile as payment.

It can be looked at both ways, which is why I asked. Of course, not everyone is as smart as I am, so they may not get it. :D :hide

Well my bunny Daughter is dead, we had to process her tonight. When we came home, Trouble was in the middle of moving the tractor rabbit cage she was in, probably because he saw us arriving home and knew he was supposed to have moved it earlier and was about to get yelled at.He starts moving the thing too fast and Hubby is telling him to watch out, he is going to hurt the bunny, but Trouble doesn't listen real well and just continued, and snap, the bunnies leg got caught and broke. :smack We thought about what to do for awhile, but it was bent out at a totally unnatural angle, there was no doubt that it was broken and she was in pain, she could not stop shaking or hop around. We decided tp process her just a few minutes later, we cannot take her to a vet so that was the only choice that wasn't cruel. We were so angry at Trouble we told hiim to go to his friends house for the night, why didn't he move the tractor the way we showed him? I don't think I will use that cage at all anymore that way now. I feel upset that I spent so much time taming that one and letting myself get attached to her, I thought she would be my breeder replacing Nana so I worked hard on her personality. And I could have sold her for probably 40 dollars at this point, and instead we are having our first Creme dinner. Hubby is reviewing the skinning technique right now.

I sure hope that Trouble learns from this and realizes his parents don't give him advice and instructions just for the heck of it. I had very carefully explained to him how the thing needed to be moved so this should not have happened.. It sets me back on my rabbitry program quite a bit, she was going to be ready to breed in a few months, and now I only have the one doe, the one that doesn't produce and the four unsexed babies that are only two weeks old, it will be a long time until I can breed them. :somad

I did have a nice day with my daughter and the baby, and we even went to an inexpensive but delish Mexican restaurant for dinner. We felt a little guilty because we called home and told the boys to go ahead and make hamburgers I had planned for tonight, but went out ourselves. :hide

*SD makes a rude hand gesture in the direction of the house where Trouble is staying with a friend overnight.*

I imagine that this mistake will make an impression on Trouble. He is probably feeling pretty bad about now.

It is a set back, but at least you have the bunnies.

Oh, that stinks- all that planning and hoping and time, and one accident derails your plans. :( It does make an impression on your kids when something gets hurt, though, because they didn't do something the way they were supposed to.

Unfortunately, we all learn from our mistakes. I'm sure he will not make the same mistake twice, and probably feels pretty bad right now. :hugs

Of our three children, this is the one that always has to learn from his own mistakes and doesn't listen to advice. I always describe him as 15 "going on 30" because he has the self confidence of a superhero sometimes without the smarts. He does love animals so he probably is feeling bad about Daughter, but in a way, I want him to feel that way, so that the lesson sinks in. While I'm not a Buddhist, I love what the Dahlai Lama said about "When you lose, don't lose the lesson".......I learned not to use that tractor and I hope Trouble learns to follow his parents directions JUST a tad more.

Emilee our baby doeling who is now approaching 5 months old is also limping today, we discovered it last night. Probably had nothing to do with Trouble, but I'll have to ask him when he returns if he observed anything yesterday. She is limping but will bear weight, and I feel warmth above her back left hock, but certainly doesn't look broken, angles are all correct, and she will put her weight on it occasionally and bear weight, sometimes walks three legged. She did jump on the stanchion this morning so it couldn't be too bad, but she is avoiding walking. I can't see a scratch or anything on her, so I'm wondering if some of the goat play and head-butting got too vigorous, she does think she is as big as the other goats, who are actually about twice her size. She and Trouble share some characteristics, I guess, they both think they are all grown up, the little snots.

I need to decide which way to cook the rabbit now, at least it was the young tender one. AND thank goodness the animal with the broken leg last night WASN'T my baby goat Emilee, I would be a wreck right now if that had happened, we have gotten really attached to the little thing.

I'll have to give Trouble a big hug when he comes home today though, to let him know he is more important than any rabbit and that his parents still love him even when they get real mad. But it was hard to watch your kid do something you are telling him to stop doing right before your very eyes and have this kind of thing happen and not be a little mad.

SD, even if your doeling had broken a leg, it would not have been the end of the world, for her. RU had a young whether break a leg years ago. He had a cast on it for awhile, but it healed up fine.
