I think Roy wants to stick to old Fords or AMC's. Our '79 Ford had over 360,000 miles on it when it went to "Ford Heaven". The Chevy he rolled had 376,000 miles on it when he rolled it. We had a '68 Chevy that had 350,000 miles on it when it went to "Chevy Heaven". Our Cherokee has something like 265,000 miles on it. Even if the headlights were working correctly, I don't think we were going to make it to 300,000 miles because it has permanent air conditioning. I refuse to drive it in winter because it is just too cold, and Roy has driven it so much that I can't get the seat forward enough to comfortably reach the clutch:lol: When we do actually retire the Cherokee, we have an AMC Commanche waiting in the wings to take over. Come summer, hopefully we will get our "Collector" car on the road. We have an '82 AMC Concord Station Wagon that needs some minor repairs. I plan on making a bumper sticker for the car just for our greyhounds: "Slow Car, Fast Dog - Adopt a Greyhound". I think Dixie approves of the sticker, but she's told me that she would be too embarrassed to ride in an old station wagon:lol:

I had a Ford Probe turbo named Dennis. It had a metal tag on it for some dealership, but most of it broke off except for the word Dennis :D

The golf I drive now I call Helga. She's a tough old gal!

Funny car names! I had to jump on this one cuz we have a couple car names.

I have a ford expedition that we call Dexi because when my son was little he couldn't say expedition....he said dexidition :gig so Dexi for short.

When my now 19 yr old got her license, her grandmother passed down an old car to her. It was quickly dubbed Little Red....it was little and red :idunno

DH was blessed with a work car, a Caddie which I call Big Red.....but that hasn't really caught on

We call my Subaru "Lurch" because for a couple of years I had a problem where it would lose power (at the most inconvenient times), start chugging and wheezing, then all of a sudden would have a burst of power and lurch forward. I had it in the shop several times, and they could never find a problem. Of course, it didn't do that when they had it - those guys must have thought I was nuts! :he

Finally one day, I happened to be driving by the shop, when the car started living up to its name. I stopped-in and let the mechanic drive it - THEN he figured out the problem! I was so excited that someone finally believed me, that I brought the guy a plate of brownies when I went to pick up the car.

Anyway, the car works fine now, but we still call it "Lurch".

It is funny how those names get started....Dexie is really cute!

Sometimes little kids say things so cute, it starts new words. We call watermelons "waterlemons" because my 18-year old could not say it correctly for the longest time.

Dexidition!

I name all my vehicles!

Long ago we inherited a 79 Plymouth Volaire from my hubby's great aunts. I named her Susie. A couple of years after we got her I found out that is the same name she had before we got her. :p

My current truck is called Leela after the Futurama character, because she has big boots.

My '94 Volvo came with the name Sir Sven from the original owners. DH's '57 Buick is named Maybelline for the Chuck Berry song. We briefly had a '53 Buick that I named Trixie. DH has not named his Jetta although the HS kids we drove to Ohio with a few summers ago nicknamed it the Silver Fox. DH's truck has always just been the truck.
