My dad has a little propane camp stove. Maybe I won't give up on that canner quite yet....I could have three going at once. Three ring circus! But I do like my dial gauge canners that I can shoot for 11 lbs of pressure. This new one is a weighted gauge canner, so it goes in increments of 5, 10, and 15. Not sure how to deal with my recipes at 11 lbs. If I let the pressure get too high, all the moisture boils out of the jars. So I try to regulate it fairly close to 11 lbs.

I have the weighted kind - eventually I will have one with a guage too - I didn't realize I would miss the precision of a guage dial when I purchased my weighted canner. I don't hate it, but I will gladly upgrade as soon as we can afford tp.
My IL's really like the speed in which their canner gets up to pressure on the camp stove. It is also easier to regulate that electric, I would think.

I have been canning outdoors last 3 years, using a unit I found on the street. I spent less than 20 to fix it, retails for $100 or more.

I keep the garden hose near to fill them, as well as a table with a towel on top to let them cool.

You have your priorities seriously backwards, VB. You MAKE your own tp so you can buy a dial guage canner! That's how it works here! :D
