DH is running errands, I asked him to pick up potting soil and seed starting soil. People are getting nervous so SS items will sell out fast or be unavailable. Basically spring 2020 on repeat. Hope no one is planning to buy chicks...
Dad went to the feed store in town today and said they had a bunch of chick varieties available. Not many ducks though.

Our stores don't get chicks for about 2 more weeks up here. I did pick up some potting soil but have enough seeds ;), probably will need more garden space though.

I wish I could go see the baby chicks! I don't want to risk getting my birds even more sick than they are

I bought some seeds with mom the other day! Picked up some sweet peas. Exciting because I've never grown them before! Also got some lavender for my pots. I wish I could plant it in the ground!

Diesel here jumped to $4.75 from 4.45 yesterday and gas is up to 3.59... talk from a friend that runs the one of the local stations is to look for diesel to jump another $.50 -.60 gal by Monday...
DS called and ordered the tanks at the farm to get filled and they are coming tomorrow....before it gets any worse.
Yes, hay is going to go up because it going to cost us nearly twice to make it in fuel costs... notwithstanding that fertilizer prices are more than doubled now and we are going to go light on most of our hay ground so there will be less....
Forewarned... it is going to get worse.
Talk is tonight Putin bombed a nuclear power plant in Ukraine... I'm going to try to find some info....

Another way to look at shortages.
I do some volunteer work with a food giveaway ministery . We did 2 last week and one today . That covers 3 different county's . Today while talking with the leader he said that the Second Harvest warehouse is down to half its normal level on dry and can goods . There frozen meats are down to a third of their normal levels . If it doesn't hit the stores and wholesale warehouses with surpluses it can't be donated.

They caught it on fire and are shelling it and preventing firefighters from putting it out. Here's live feed. Can see shelling occasionally.

It's Zaporizhzhia nuclear power plant. Largest powerplant in Europe. The reactor they are shelling is shut down, but water must still continuously cool the core. If that stops you get a meltdown.

Our gas went up 20 cents in 2 days. $3.79 for regular unleaded.

Hard to find chicken and pasta, but everything else is stocked. Priced high but there. Almost $4 for milk now and cents under $2 for a dozen eggs, thankful we dont need to buy them
