Time to stock up on flour

"The United States exported some 27.22 million metric tons of wheat in 2018/2019, and imported about 3.81 million metric tons of wheat in that time period. In 2018/2019, the United States had the fifth largest production volume of wheat worldwide, at 51.29 million metric tons."

However since prices on everything are now dictated by Global stock markets, prices will go up. I don't think food stuffs should be allowed to be traded like that.

i don't think the prices are determined by the global stock markets. supply vs. demand and various other things like currency values and other costs of production will have more of an impact. the stock markets are reacting to world events and in recent times the markets that i've been following have fallen off their highs. if your claim was true then food prices would be falling.

as long as there have been tribes of humans there have been trades.

how would you get something you wanted that you didn't have if you would not trade in return something you valued?

we want oil and other materials from places around the world. how would we get those if we did not trade what we had in return?

the higher prices around the world will mean more for our own exports of wheat and other foods we grow. what goes around will eventually come around.

Yes, I didn’t expect it would actually affect us directly as we don’t import that much Russian wheat, just like we don’t import much Russian oil, but both are global issues.

Russia also exports a lot of fertilizer. There’s another fun one 🙄

My town has hitching posts around in a few places for the Amish. Maybe they'll get more use from others this summer. 🤣

I'm busy changing 4-H plans for next month to virtual to help those who are cutting back on driving to make ends meet.

Work from home is one way to reduce gas consumption, hopefully that will be continue to be an option for many
