Yesterday, Lady Bird (our Gold Penciled Hamburg) found the first worm in the farmyard!

Then a lively game of chase me ensued! :gig
Here, too!!

Yesterday we cleaned up infront of the house, and there were rolly pollys out in full force with grubs and worms and a millipede! I had 2 speckled sussex hens out there that made short work of all those bugs! (and I took pics!)

edit for grammar (didn't want dac after me!) :gig

I know spring is here- the eggs are disappearing from the nest boxes. It means the 2 yellow rat snakes, who wintered under the house, are awake and hungry. They're getting about 5 a day. :barnie

Spring is looking like it's here. The cottagers are back (there goes the neighbourhood...LOL) - woke to leaf blowers this morning (most leaves are still frozen to the ground!). And the in-laws called last night - they're coming home next week from Florida. Spring is definitely here when the "snowbirds" come flocking back from their warm winter retreats. :)

Hahaha to cottagers! Ours are back too... i saw some coming up to open their cottages and such last week. All the good donuts will be gone at timmies soon enough.

Spring has arrived here. Wild Leeks or Ramps are up and nearly big enough to use. I've been so busy that I didn't know they were up in the woods.
Wild Leek soup is a spring tradition in our house. And, oh, the breath!
Let's just say it's a good that we both love it. :drool
