Even if their values do not increase any more, or if they drop back to their original prices, it sure beat investing in the markets. He calls them his new 401K's.
Some gun manufacturing company ought to come out with a new gun during these times and call it the 401K. :D
Ok that was danged funny!!

I just found my way to this forum and glad to be here. My Ken and I both have felt for quite some time that the economy is in for a HUGE collapse and if we aren't ready, we will be screwed. Which is why I am here now. I am just figuring out some of this stuff and have a black thumb. :/ I am gonna try the upside down tomatoe plant and if that works my entire garden will be upside down!

Got most of that barn cleared out...and HOPEFULLY we will be ready to start the fencing soon. Little sheep.....come home!!! :D

Debiraymond,

I also have the black thumb of doom! Start small and work you way up.

This is coming from the woman who once had a plastic plant wilt.

Welcome the Black Thumb Club! Last year I was comparing notes with an acquaintance, who knew that I generally had a black thumb, and he was amazed that I had harvested slightly more than he had. What I didn't mention was that my garden was three times the size of his.

The plants at the local nursery cringe in fear when I walk by. The owner of the nursery just smiles and asks what am I needing to replace today. :(

Koxxx,

I know just what you mean!

I'm convinced the plants have learned to play dead just to mess with me!

I have "Big garden, low yield" syndrom. :D

We got lucky last year. The only thing we had to replace was the sweet 'taters. I sat out with the shotgun one evening and took care of the Mr.Bunny, who thought we had planted them just for his dinner. End of problem. :D :D

I second me&thegals suggestion...head over to Easy Garden.

One important thing that new gardeners often forget is to test your soil. If your soil is not right then your garden is not going to flourish. Any garden center should sell soil test kits for under $15. They are very simple and easy to follow.
After soil issues come watering issues...too much or not enough.

This is why I want the upside down thing - you can use Miracle Grow ALONE.... Helps my chances of killing it later rather than sooner. The only thing that grows on my land is weeds.
