We have a river running through our turnaround. We are hoping that the barns don't flood again like they did on Monday. Then we get snow tonight into tomorrow!
Then they are talking about another heavy rain on Wednesday.
We've got water inching into our hay garage and toward the goats. The hay is up on pallets so it should be OK. The goats are on the last high spot that can get breached so
I must live in a micro climate on this side of the mountain. I am, or should I say, the only snow around here is sitting on my property in a form of a slick ice sheet....
Get your wellys on just in case you need to got save them goats JAVA...
Hope your cool green house is doing good in this rain/flooding??????
I went out to fix up up the chicken run fencing and nettings this morning (the ice storm made a mess of things). Sloppy, sloppy out there this morning. But at least I can see my daffodil shoots again.
Greenhouse is doing great....so far! Thank goodness it hasn't rained as hard and the standing water hasn't gotten as deep as it did Monday! There is still a small lake in the field behind the house, and so far it hasn't breached the fence line yet.
I know this summer we will be begging for rain.......so I won't complain to hard.
Well, the barns never flooded today and the water is starting to recede so I'm breathing easier. It was not easy to get all of our goats up into our hayloft on Monday and then bring them back down. We still have the river running through our turnaround but we can easily walk or drive through it. My biggest problem with it all is that animals don't drown!
We be makin' maple syrup!! My friend (that owns the farm I hunt) and I tapped 125 trees. So far we have cooked off 10 gallons of syrup on the home made, red neck sap cooker we built last year! Last season, we only got 10 gallons TOTAL for the season, so we are THRILLED to be this much farther ahead!!!
Now if it would just stop RAINING!!
