By way of update: I've finally moved into my new office. I installed a version of this unit from Ikea: http://www.ikea.com/us/en/catalog/products/S59888855/

It's a bit of a mess in here right now, but I'll take a pic soon.

My biggest problem: I'm really REALLY bemoaning the fact that I didn't just stick with carpet. The echo factor in here is TERRIBLE! It would have been less work (I already had the pad and carpet tac strips) and cheaper to stick with carpet than the laminate and the sound dampening would have been way better. Also, I've been reminded that I like the "warmth" of carpet so much more. :(

At this point I'll probably do the following to compensate:
  1. Get a huge area rug
  2. Curtains on the window to help dampen sound
  3. Felt paintings, etc. on the walls to also dampen sound

Is it soon yet,@Nifty ? Where are the photos? You know how we crave pictures of before and after. We've been waiting nearly a year for those shots. At some of my places, it would already be time for a new paint job and we haven't seen your old one.
