so again it comes to everyone wanting what they can't grow, and preserve, and then we wonder why we need a GLOBALl economy
;)
ETA: Sorry I was going to say to this that we have always had a global economy. It just used to be spices mostly that were traded by way of sailing ships . . . .

Just went to a local Walmart (we have several around here and not all carry the same stuff) and found they carry 'emergency' food storage stuff. I've seen on here that alot of folks have talked about their Walmarts carrying stuff like this, but I had not seen it here until today. They had several varieties of freeze dried fruits, veggies, tater soup mix, beef & chicken boullion, etc sold seperately and even a breakfast or dinner combo pack (enough for 200 meals I think or maybe it was 20 :hu ), AND they had buckets of red or white hard wheat and 2 kinds of oats.
I didn't have time to check to see if they also carried the empty buckets & lids that everyone talks about, but I'm thinking theres a good chance they do. :fl

ETA: Most of those containers said "30 year shelf life"

Did you catch the brand name? I would love to look it up on their web site. I know sometimes they will ship to the store for free. That would be a huge savings.

Tanks.......I'm so sorry, I don't remember the name other than it started with an A as in Anderson Family Farms or something like that and it did say the stuff was 100% natural. I'll be going back to check if they also have the empty food buckets & will get the name, but it probably won't be for a few days since I have to work & our store hasn't carried it but I'll be checking there too. :thumbsup

Tanks...I checked at the store I work at and we had it too. The brand name is 'Augason Farms' . I checked the Walmart website and didn't come up with anything, maybe you'll have better luck with that. I also did a search for Augason Farms and some results mention Sam's club. So if you have a membership you might be able to get it there.

Hubby took me to Colorado last summer... On the way back we saw Rock Ford Cantalope in one of the stores .. we picked up several.. I have never had them He is from Tribune Kansas and grew up with Rocky ford peaches and cantalopes.. The cantalope were fantastic..
The following week the wal mart here in Waco had rocky ford cantalope I was able to buy several more. I saved seed from them but don't know it they are Heirloom or open pollinated...

I found those canned veggies that were mentioned in the other thread. Smokin deal. I bought a few cases. No one even harassed me at checkout.
