To tell the truth, I was never one that really gave to overseas missions and always thought missions should start at home. I've tried to follow through with that these past 3 years here and met one hard heart and big wall after another.
I think God was trying to show me something. Americans have plenty of help...they have freedom of religion, freedom to access any religious materials they wish, they have financial help through welfare, social security, various and sundry agencies and private Christian organizations that will help and even get government grants to help.
And? They are hard-hearted to the message they are so free to partake of. It took hard lessons for me to see that. The final evidence was the thread about the people who were killed by pirates and how callous we Americans were about their endeavors and a few recent happenings at work that finally convinced me that my efforts would be better put to use where people are more eager to receive the message of God's love.
Imagine wanting to learn about God but being unable to get His Word, no freedom to freely worship or fellowship in His name or be able to profess to be a follower? THOSE are the people I want to help.
Prayer and the answering of is a close subject to my heart and it ties right into my answer to prayer for guidance for my life....what next, Lord? What can I do for you? You've done so much for me and now, at the end of our age, what can I do for you before I meet you face to face?
