Years ago, I heard a formula for praying based on the Lord's Prayer, it was called ACTS. Each letter stood for something else.

Adoration-realizing who and what God is.
Confession-realizing our sinful nature and short comings in the eyes of God
Thanksgiving-realizing that everything we have and are comes as a result of God's blessing
Supplication-realizing that we can do nothing for ourselves, but asking God to supply what we need

I also heard about something that a group of people were told to try. They were to pray out lout, just one sentence and thank God for something, anything. They didn't get too far B4 instead of thanking God, they were instead asking Him for things. And, I would say that is typical of all of us.

Something I have been doing is praying scripture. I honestly am not very good praying on my own. I know that will eventually change when He teaches me but I try to start out with like Psalm 145 then Psalm 51 and so on then I add my own words. I ask him to direct my steps and let His light shine through me for everyone to see and I make sure to put on the Armor of God and ask him to give me the utterance to speak to others and to guard my mouth and bridle my tongue....

Hi again,
I finally ran down the addy for the KJV Divine Name Bible.
http://www.Xchg.com
From the web page: "Welcome to Xchg, a tool to quickly find and compare Bible verses from 57 Bibles in 43 languages!"

Some very nice comments on the beloved KJV Bible in the Preface of this online only Bible. Enjoy.
