I don't know that it makes better sense...but it's what I've always been taught and all the verses and commentary I've read have interpreted it this way. It makes better sense to ME, but may not to others.

Barred, I will tell you something I have learned. I have attended many churches and listened to many different preachers. They all seem to have their own agenda or interpretations of God's Word. I know it says we are not to lean unto our own understandings but one has to do quite a bit of sorting the wheat from the chaff in this life when it comes to Biblical teachings.

I usually sort out what makes sense to me, from my perspective, then I take it to the scriptures and compare it with my understanding of them. I pray that God will let me understand the true meaning and I take away that meaning in my heart. I am still learning and sorting.

I have found it to be the best method for me and listening to any one person about the true meaning of any particular aspect of the Bible hasn't been. After I listen to many, studying on the points where they actually agree, read it, apply it, pray about it...then I finally come to an assurance in my heart.

I tend to think it is literal. Jesus prayed to God, not to Himself. He called God His Father. We can use the human body for a metaphor but God's being is not like ours. He is not confined to a physical form nor is He confined to being just a spirit.

When it states that Jesus is sitting at the right hand of God, I believe that He is actually sitting there, right beside God, the Father. I can't imagine that a God as powerful as the one true God would have to be confined to our perception of a being.

Just as the Holy Spirit can abide in each of us and still be in God, so can Jesus abide separately but still as one with God, the Father. Jesus is God in the flesh and now inhabits a resurrected body. God had to take this form to redeem the flesh as well as the spirit, as humans are both. Jesus still inhabits that new and resurrected body and we shall know him and fellowship with Him in Heaven, just as we will with God, the Father.
Jesus prayed to God not to Himself......makes very little sense IMO. Jesus is God in the flesh.

Replace pray with communicate. Replace Jesus with flesh(his part of the trinity) replace God with mind(His part of the trinity) and it makes much more sense. The body and mind have to be in costant communication for action to take place. A paralytic can think about moving their arm all day long, but that doesn't make it move. Paralytics can't move their arm because the flesh and body no longer correctly communicate. I think the trinity is just a higher form of communication.

I would guess no Bambi....in the beginning when God made man that should have been sufficient, but we really managed to mess up the perfect Eden that we were given. That is why God had to send His Son to take our sin. At least that is my understanding.

So in the beginning there was simply no need for Jesus.
As for the Holy Spirit....I do not know.

Jesus was there from the beginning. He is and was a part of God from before creation. In John Chapter 1:1-4 says He was.

I have a question to throw out to....

I recently bought a cross necklace. I love it and I love wearing it.

I notice that some of my friends from church wear a cross, but not all.

I also was looking at many different crosses at a Christian bookstore and I was bewildered by all of the different styles, I know that some have distinct meanings.

So my question is do you wear a cross? Why? Do have have more than one style of cross? Are there certain styles that you are not comfortable with (Celtic perhaps) or do you simply accept a cross as a symbol of ones faith?

Lastly...I bought what I thought was a beautiful little cross and it has grey and black crystals on either side.....I looked it up and it represents sin. Should I only wear it when I am feeling retentive? Now I am a little disappointed in my choice and worried about the symbolism and wearing it. Am I being too literal?

So do you believe that it was Jesus that was sent as an angel in the old testament?

I have never heard of a cross representing sin :hu What would be the point in fashioning such an item to begin with? I have no answers for you on this one. That's just odd to me.

I believe prior to the birth of Christ as the Messiah, He was not called Jesus, but came in other forms, yes.

Sorry Hon, fingers are faster than the brain!

The beads next to the cross are black and grey .....here is what I found on line:

Black
The black bead represents sin; Christians believe that their sins separate them from God and that they should repent of their sins to repair their relationship with God. The black bead on the necklace reminds Christians that sin may be a part of their lives but that they should strive to overcome it and repent whenever they commit a sin.
