That's a good idea to keep even the recipes that don't work.

I have a soap-making binder, but for canning I have always just made notes all over my cookbook. I have a "special" cookbook that has lots of vegetable recipes in it. It has several blank pages in the back for cooking notes - Plus I have scribbles in all the margins and recipes around the borders of the index as well!

It is not too pretty but I know where things are. Kind of like my mother-in-law's well worn and notated Bible. (I don't write in my Bible - funny huh?)

A binder would be MUCH better and more organized, but at this point I would have a whole lot of recopying to do. :p

That is how my regular cookbook is. Pages are falling out or are bent. Some have writing on them. It has been loved!!! My husband asked if I wanted a new cookbook, but I said no because it would be too much work.

FYI, a good idea for cooking binders is to buy the plastic sheet protectors. Yes, rather expensive this way, and bulky... but I like to pull out one page and clip it in a page holder on the counter. The sleeves keep them from all sorts of damage. (messy fingers, ripped holes, ect..)

Plus, post it notes can be stuck to the outside of it if changes or times are needed. ;)

Yes, I do this, too. I use a magnetic clip on the fridge for the recipe that is in current use.

The ones I use a lot I printed out on cardstock, and put them in the sleeves.

I have taken a few of my favorite paperbacks reference books to Staples to have them spiral bound, and the covers laminated. Don't ask for comb-binding, it doesn't last very long. I have a couple of books I need to get done soon....it only costs a few dollars, and is so worth it for certain, special books.

Plus, they lay flat, hands-free, once spiral bound.

I use a small binder with the plastic sheet coverings. I take out the page I need and like mentioned above, the recipe is protected from the messes.
