Good to hear from you! School started here too, this year I am a 3rd and 4th grade teacher. Thankfully, my students don't mind free art time while I finish canning.
It has been months since I've been on this forum! I hope everyone is good. I probably need to "meet" some new people. I've mostly been being a mom. I have started cooking a lot more. Our garden has been doing great. I've blogged a bit about it and my attempt to eat healthier.
Kids and I spent a month this summer at my parent's "farm" in the country. I made goat cheese, helped dh butcher some ducks, made jam, milked goats, had a great time.
Had a few days of chilly fall weather here in LA, but in the 90's today. Not conducive to cooking. Apples finallly went on sale at 49 cents a pound. Bought 2 bushels- 72 lbs. to make applesauce. That will be my weekend.
Started canning applesauce today. Gala apples went on sale for 49 cents a pound. It's alwasy such an ordeal to find the produce guy at the grocery store and tell them I want 2 boxes of apples. But that's not nearly as unlikely as getting a cashier who knows how to ring it up. It always causes a scene to get a manager to come over and punch the right buttons. Ah well, I never claimed I didn't cause problems.
I hope to make enough to last a year- the kids love to eat applesauce and I love to use it in place of oil in muffins and cakes.
