Wow last night we had some rain and wind finally reach us down south. It was circling around and coming in from the southeast. The wind was sure blowing last night. Now we just have some heavy drizzle.
I was a bit worried about the garden. I planted my tomatoes and peppers a bit early because the little sprouts were not doing well. They perked up once in the ground. But I hope they did not get pulverized last night. I have seeded just about most everything else. Cuc's, beets, carrots, lettuces, cabbages, leeks, and all of the various pole and climbing peas. I planted all of the squashes and pumpkins I started inside. I think I will seed in the same area as well to fill in the blank spots.
We are all back to normal. Today is the first day in over a month and a half that I have not been dealing with a sick kid or under the weather myself. It feels good to get things done around here.
My turkey hen abandoned the nest of chicken eggs. They were several days over due and I had ZERO hatch. I can't believe I had no fertile eggs. So I gathered the eggs careful and threw them out. They were starting to smell. I didn't even want to look in them.
Second turkey hen is on the turkey eggs. They should be hatching later this week. But I doubt they are fertile either. My tom does not really know what hes doing.
Meat birds are do the first week of April. Still trying to steady my nerves for them.
I worked this weekend with DS to help hm catch up on his state report. We had some typing to do and a couple maps.
My kids went to SIL Ranch Fri night. Dh and I went to the local Mexican restaurant for dinner with a couple friends. It was nice to get out. Girls rode horses in the morning. We drove out to pick them up. Stayed for lunch and did some target practice. I shot my SIL new 223. Whew that sucker packs a punch compared to my little 22. It was a nice day.
Marianne if your at the age you fall asleep when you sit down, you probably deserve a nap. I imagine if you had a 10, 8 and 5 year old your weekend would be the same as mine.
My kids(human) drink raw milk. I pay an arm and a leg for it but we have no tummy troubles over it. My local health food store sells the Organic Pastures brand. Yummy stuff.
Anyways, I go shopping on
Tues Morning - delivery guy not there yet, they say Tues is the day come back tomorrow.
Wed, still no milk, different guy searched back fridge cant find it, come back tomorrow. Talk to Peto dairy manager.
Thurs. still no milk, I say what happened to Tuesdays delivery. He says No delivery on Tues, Just Friday. ok so wheres all the milk. He says, a family came in over the weekend and bout over 30 quarts to freeze and take to New Mexico.
WT heck??????????
They limit corn, and every other vegetable as to prevent gorging, hoarding or what ever the heck you call it.
So I grumble at the guy, He takes my number and says the milk is coming Friday e will call me when it gets there.
We leave for the desert on Friday. With or without the milk. 5 yo is having tizzys. Cried at dinner last night because I promised her milk.
So what do I do, 14 bucks for chewable lactate pills!!!
I'm gettin a goat.
Let me ask you this. Doesn't freezing the mill negate the whole point of having raw milk in the first place??
You can laugh. It is rather funny. I actually googled to see if there are other stores in my are that carry it. There are. But come on, it was just the back and forth, back and forth to the store that gets me.
I need someone with a goat to come walk my property and give me ideas about where to put one. How much space they really need etc. I have the room but no electricity in the outlying areas. And walking the hill stinks.
