I printed the pic and told my dh that I had found my mother day gift. He grunted at me. :hit

:tongue

This is the same man that talks to my chicks in the brooder. So I am not giving up hope yet.

Speaking of chicks in the brooder.....:sick

Someone please remind me of a couple things...

How much do these pigs really need to eat??
Second, how long do they have to stay in the house?

Wow, today is Thursday already. Not much going on. I did some baking yesterday. My girls were invited to a friends b day party. My friend the mom was doing make your own pizzas. So I made some GF crust to send with dd. Oh and also a pan of GF brownies. Leftovers did not come home. Not that I expected any. I imagine everyone enjoyed them

I made ds go to the Good Will yesterday with me. I found some cool stuff. It has been a while since I have gone. Trying to save money. Second half of property tax bill has to go out tomorrow. :hit

I found a couple pair of really nice Timberland boots. One pair gently used, the second brand new. DS had to have the new ones even though they are two sizes to big for him. They were not cheap. My store overprices everything. But I figure he will wear they for at least a couple years. :gig

I found some canning tongs and a small stove top waffle iron. Both really good prices. And the piece de resistance......(how the heck do you spell that?) An old fashioned countertop meat grinder. It had the original box, a hand crank, directions, all parts. I would say mid century. Nothing to fancy but still a grinder. :woot

There was a lot of cool stuff yesterday. Dehydrator, pasta maker, all kinds of gadgets and gizmos. Spring cleaning must be in full swing.

Spring break is almost over here. I need to get my kids back on schedule and out of the tent. Rain comming tonight. Cooler temps. I guess I should stack some wood near the house today.

Well not much else for me.

Have a great day.

Those pigs will "eat" as much as you put in front of them :D however, depending on the feeder you are using they may also be spreading it in their bedding (stupid ducks. stupid wasteful dirty ducks)
And really as long as it ain't freezing and they are at least 3/4 feathered they can go outside. I wouldn't say put 20 half feathered chicks in a coop the size of a football stadium, but something size appropriate would be good. unless there are other chickens in the coop, then body tempature in general will be good for excess heat :)

You all are too funny.

Ok so I think the problem is I have no idea what a "feathered or half feathered" chick looks like. :hide They are getting little wing feathers. I just have no experience with chicks. I know, Duhhh!!!!

I cleaned the brooder today. I should have done it two days ago. :sick Then the rottie came through knocked over the bucket I filled with stinky shavings as well as the bucket it was sitting on. Which happened to contain my pink gooey laundry soap. What a mess.

My goal is to shoot for next weekend. The current rain/ cold will be gone and the the birds will be 2 weeks.

I am thinking about moving that turkey hut I built into the yard. Near my house and garden. The land is flat and would make moving the hut soo much easier.

I figure if I start at the far side and each week move closer to the patio. Then when I get there it will be "off with their heads". Perfect timing and location.

Well today is starting off well.

Got wood to the house.
spread new bark mulch around garden beds.
Got the chicken feed out of my van and down the hill.
Moved food into big coop. Rain is coming.
laundry, dishes, bed....

Kids dressed, brushed and fed.

My 10 yo son is so great. He got up this morning and put on his overalls and new boots. He helped with everything. He is so my son.

Now we are having a bit of a break,

Monday Monday Monday, not just any Monday. But Monday kids go back to school Monday. :ya :bun :clap :woot

Not that I have not enjoyed having them home but I am so far behind on my laundry and chores. I have a ton of catching up to do. It will be nice to have the house to myself again.

Well lets see.

Turkeys are 2 weeks today.
Stinky meat birds are 9 days since arrival.

I found 1 DOA meat bird yesterday morning. Not sure what was up but if I had my guess I would say it ate to much. I have been feeding 12 on 12 off but when they run out of food bummer for them.

They act like little piranhas I the morning when I put the food out. Kinda freaks me out.

My goal is to move the meat birds out this comming weekend. I moved my turkey hut into the yard. It is close enough for electricity. So I may put the dog crate in with the light on.

Other than that I just have a lot of catching up to do around the house. Try and get back into a routine. The kids are back at school today. Whoot!!!

Garden is doing great. Lots of stuff growing. We had a bit of rain this weekend and its supposed to be near 80 this week. So I figure everything will take off.

I still would like another load of soil/manure. I will need to track that down.

Kinda boring update. :idunno

:weee ---right there with ya on the kids going back to school!

so much done so much faster. I like that!

I hit great sales for Nicole. A $14 (fancy pink fufu dress for her birthday party on Friday) for only---ta da---$1

yup clearance rack. She loves it and it is 2 sizes too big so I am going to pin up the shoulder straps and should be perfect for the party. BUT when she 'does fit this dress' she won't wear it...butt-ugly but cute as heck HA HA

I do buy some things too big for Nicole cause the price is right. Some things I shy away from doing that. Like coats, I never seem to fit a coat to her easily? Arms always too long, body area too big? Hmm.....

you have a great Monday all alone in that house! I will!!!!!!! :bun
