I bet it is just the comparison between meaties and turkeys that is making those turkeys look smaller. They will start to catch up about the time those meaties are ready for the freezer. After that LOOK out... those turkeys will really start to grow.
I have been looking for a grain mill for a while now. I did not want to give in and buy one of those tiny hand crank ones designed for emergencies. I didn't really want electric either. But this seems to have a bit of history behind it. My dh keeps saying "I can't believe someone turned and end table into a grain mill". Yes its that big.
The blog also stated that you can hand crank in case of a power outage. It has a straight drive so I imagine a handle could be attached. I don't have one or even know what it looks like. But I will keep my eyes open.
FF I wonder if I should separate the turkeys form the meats? Not sure where I would put them. I think I better get building something.
If you post a picture of the shaft, I bet we could help you figure out a handle! It would be nice to have the option of hand cranking or electric. The best of both worlds!
Well I would leave them all together if my tractor was bigger. I guess I will just wait and see.
Happy Easter everyone!!!
I awoke to a 5yo at 5:45 am. I told her to go back to bed before she woke everyone up. She says "Their already up and in the family room". So up I got. I stumbled all the way to the coffee maker.
I found a link for the new company that makes my old grain mill. If that makes any sense. The have parts and the hand crank. I really think my dh could just make one. Its very simple.
We are off to the in laws today for an early dinner. I am taking a salad. So plan to raid my garden for lettuce. I have plenty so it shouldn't be a problem.
Dh brought me a new phone home yesterday. I have an old very simple flip phone but we need to close that account. Actually it's his Dads account. So yesterday I got a new Droid. Not sure I like the fancy features but I am sure I will get used to it. Heck now I can take the SS forum with me wherever I go.
Well I suppose I should get dressed sometime today.
Lot's of things to do today. Holidays are great but they really slow me down. Sat was spent running errands and getting ready for Easter. Yesterday we left for MIL at noon. I was totally running late. I got distracted in the garage pantry. I saw evidence of a mouse and started cleaning and reorganizing.
Before I know it I was still in my pj's and it was 11am. I had to get a salad together, plate up the lemon bars, get my girls showered and dressed. The list went on.
We made it though. And my pantry is clean.
Things to do this today.
check broody
weed garden
climb the mountain of laundry
pick the plastic Easter grass out of the carpet.
wrap and ship turkey eggs to Aunt.
And the list goes on. I hope the sun comes out today. Yesterday was unseasonably cool and drizzly. I need to put laundry on the line.
Not much else going on.
I think if my count is correct we have 5 weeks of school left.
I have a question about naturally hatching chicks. My broody is due to hatch today. Yesterday one blew up. Not fertile, stinky and . So this morning I went down and I had a chick half out of the shell but dead.
I know anything could have happened but I want to be sure they all don't croak.
So what causes are there for a chick to make it halfway out of the sell and die?
