For a minute I thought I should post the link and you guys could all respond with really dumb questions that would drive her nuts. :gig
Do it....Do it...Do it.... :p

We have all our meaties in one big ol cage. They're little piranhas too and we have to feed them several times a day.

Hearing you all talk of butchering at 4 - 6 weeks is making me weak in the knees...Ours are at 7 weeks this weekend....

Guess I need to do some weighing!

Hi Kel and Karen, Thanks for stopping by!!

Well for me this Sat is 6 weeks on my meats. I can see butchering a few might work. :hide I would prefer to push it off another week. Farm Fresh says 1 lb per week so by next week the should end up around 5 lbs after cleaning. Which would be good.

Gleno have you butchered birds before? I have not. :barnie

Okay, we never weighed ours but we started culling the biggest ones at 8 weeks. Then we let them go another week and culled the biggest ones again and went another week etc. But we did 60 birds this last time. The last ones were at around 10-11 weeks but that was cause they needed more feed and time to plump up after the strongest birds were gone.

If they look fat enough in a week or two then cull the biggest ones and give the others another week to put on some more weight.

Oh, and I LOVE that pen!

OK, I think I need to sell me some jars. I might have one that's that old. It looks like a regular canning jar, but the lids don't fit on it. Wonder if I can get $20 for it?

Nope - never processed our own meat birds before. It's going to be a you tube occasion for sure!

Then again....maybe not....
