Dead Birds Walkin....... duh duh ...duh duh.. :D

Tomorrow will be a busy day. I pulled 20 of my largest Freedom Rangers from the general population. They have been moved to the yard and into the dog kennel. I am a bit nervous because of the size of the spacing on the wire but for one night it should be ok.

Then on our last trip up the hill I grabbed a Tom and threw him in as well. May as well give it a go. I have 3 more turkeys to butcher. Two female and one more tom. That gives me the two old gals from last year and the two youngins. I think one of those should be able to reproduce next year.

I have my sink, table, cones on the ladders all ready to go. Tomorrow I will get some water on and scrub it all down with some bleach water.

This is the fall plot. The beans are starting to climb and beets are about 6 inches tall. Broccoli, cabbages and that stuff just went in.

Thanks guys. :love It needs some work. I have a bed of carrots to pick and blanch and the tomatoes are all leggy and turning brown.

I need to get a load of compost to start amending with as the beds empty.

but that will have to wait for another weekend. :hu

I'm exhausted. We managed to get through 20 birds and 1 turkey. After the first bird my Dh starts grumbling under his breath about plucking.

Boy did I give him the I told you so speech. So I imagine before we butcher again he will build a Whizbang plucker for me.

We sorted through the birds and picked out the largest. Some of the 50 still seem pretty small. We have decide to feed them for a couple more weeks. They are 10 weeks but still very mobile and look great.

We butchered 1 tom, he was about 6 months. He weighed in at 13 lbs finished. I will weigh some of the meats tomorrow.

Dh and I wet to dinner. Tomorrow is actually our 12 year anniversary. Whoo hoo. I hope I can sleep in.
