We stayed at a really cool campground just north of Crescent city many years ago, near the Smith river. It is amazingly beautiful in that are. We had done a road trip, rented a large can and borrowed a kid to keep DD company and just headed north. Those tall redwoods are breathtaking and we went to may tourist traps and so much fun.

Our persimmons aren't ripe yet. They are wonderful dehydrated. The critters like them too. We still have loads of tomatoes, and peppers. I have a big basket of cucumbers in the fridge that I would like to do something with and I need to can my fresh shelled cranberry beans.

But now I have to pet my cat, because he is demanding it

Geeesh, these critters just boss me around

They are every year around the 4th of July, hosted on a different privately owned farm of a reader that volunteers as a host. I would love to go again but the 4th weekend is usually horrible for driving. :/
Maybe in a couple years I can have them come to my farm. :D You can come early to beat the traffic and help get things ready. :thumbsup
:weee

Sounds like a party to me!!

Great job on getting so many diaper bags done! Way to go on the fence too!
That is a bummer that you and your siblings are so far apart in age. I have thought about that because my oldest will be 16 soon and driving and off doing his own thing so IF I ever did have another one they would not be close.

Pam, actually having some older ones ins't ball that ad. My sister and I have a great relationship. She is 12 years older than me. Actually she was married at 18 so I imagine I was what 6 when she left. Then there is the brother who is just above her. He was in the Air Force and living over seas while I grew up. When I graduated high school he very generousally sponsored my first year of colege over seas. I lived in Munich and traveld a bit while I was there. That is something my Mom could have never done for me. It really changed my outlook on the world and what is possible.

So older siblings can be good too!!!

Denise, ok persimmon chips it is. Do you have the ones that look like a tomato or the ones that are pointy on the end? The ones I have are kinda like a flat tomato. Yo can eat them crisp like a apple. This is the neighbor that just sold his property. So sad I am sure the new owner is not going to take care of the orchard. I should go look for a volunteer tree.

I better get moving. Lots to do.

Nov.???? 3, 2010

Today is going to be a hot one. Hey isn't that a song? I think it must have reached the mid 80's yesterday. Today is supposed to be warmer.

I am stilllllllllllll sewing. I had one bag left, SIL came over yesterday to help. :he Basically we talked and talked, I didn't sew much and made a couple mistakes. So today I need to finish 1 and she is going to bring 2 more for Thurs. I think the final count now is 15 done.

Today I am volunteering at the Book Fair at school. 1 hour away from home wont kill me. But the gossipy laddies at the school might.

Chickens are slowly coming back to life. After their confinement for two weeks while we built the fence. They had actually stopped laying. All 24. the first day I got 2 eggs, then 3, then yesterday I got 4. They better get moving or I am going to replace them.

Went to the big box store yesterday. Picked up a few things. Spent more money than I had or was supposed to. Butter is through the roof. I paid close to 10 bucks for 4 lbs. Ugggg... That's just crazy.

My Auntie in Mo called yesterday to brag about how low her property tax bill is. Something like 150 bucks while 1/2 of mine is closer to 4 grand. I love that woman.

There is a big scary bug buzzing around my lamp right now. Not sure what it is but if you don't hear from me again it's probably going to be the bugs fault. :barnie

We do have a break from reality coming up. We are heading to the desert. My children are very excited and dh really needs a break. I just have the fun task of figuring out an inexpensive menu, preparing all the food and clothes to take, then loading the trailer. Geesh how fun is that? No wonder I drink heavily while I am there.

Well I will be mulling around today.

Might be a stink bug. Don't know about your area, but around here, your house will start getting invaded by stink bugs when the weather starts to turn cooler. And, they will buzz around your lights. I removed about 10 of them off of my saddle once, and STILL missed one. I kept smelling it while I was riding. :he

Got my morning stuff done early yesterday. Had a miserable morning trying to get my kids out the door. DD 7yo had a melt down over her wallet, she wanted to take for the book fair, tying her shoes and eating her cereal. Then when she came home she informed me she spent 10 bucks. Hello which crazy lady talked her into that?

So off to the school I went. I was scheduled to volunteer from 9:30 to 10:30. When I got there there was no one around. The doors were closed an it was dark. Uhhh hello??? Turns out for some reason they were only running it in the afternoon. Uhhh did someone forget to call me?? So I went and volunteered in DD 5yo classroom for 1/2 hour than came home. Just kinda bugs me because I need to go to Home Depot. What a wasted morning. :idunno

Back to the sewing machine this morning. I did not finish yesterdays stuff. :hide I am over that bag. :barnie

Last night I had all the kids do a really good prep in hopes this morning would go better. We have clothes picked out, back packs loaded and homework singed. Lets see how we do.

So how did your morning go?

I always push m,y kids to get organized the night before, nothing makes me angrier that a kid telling me at 6:50am that they need a new binder, index cards, more paper, a form filled out or they can't find their dang shoe. :barnie

This heat is brutal. That is about all I have to say today!

This morning went great!! I did have to rouse and dress my 5yo. I think she is starting to appreciate sleeping in a bit to much. You know that point when they realize how great it is? :D

My sil dropped off the last two diaper bags. Hopefully I can finish them this afternoon. The west side of the hose just gets way to hot. That's where I sew.

I went to Fresh and Easy and picked up two turkeys today. 2- 20lb ers at 37 cents per pound. I also spoke to my new best friend. :love The butcher at Food for Less(Kroger), he says their 87 cent turkeys will come down again just before the holiday.

I am hoping for a few more.

Well I guess that's about it. I did find an add on CL where the man is looking to buy a Bourbon Red hen for his tom. I have two. Not sure if I need two. But I think I will keep her.
