Our wheels are wagon wheels or something...we got them at Home Depot and they are just attached with bolts. Washers on both sides...you just have to figure out the placement so that it is not too high off the ground so that something can get in under the bottom boards....it takes 2 or 3 people to hold it to get the right placement. Our bottom board sits about an inch off the ground but you can always overhang the wiring on the sides to cover the gap.

What a crazy day!!! Good and bad all rolled into one and it's not even half over.

I got up early with dh got him out the door. Kids off to school at 7:30.

Drove to a neighboring city to pick up my corrugated panels. Got lost but had the guys phone number so I managed to find my way. Brought the panels home, they look great. I can't wait until I have time to use them.

Came home, did a few things. I left the house to 11:30 to pick up my dd kindergartner. Drove down the hill to the school across the street. Got her and went to the grocery really quick. No more than 1/2 hour later I was trying to come home. The street to my house was closed. The police man said I had to go around the other way. I thought the power was out or something. It took about 10 min to get home. At the bottom of my drive were 3 fire tucks and 4 police cars. I figured there must have been a pretty bad accident at the stop sign. I asked and the fire man said a garage had burned. So I dove up the drive. My drive it 600 ft long. There are 3 houses. The second one up was torched. The neighbors off road buggy and everything in it was basically melted. My little old German neighbor was shaking. She had called 911 after an explosion rattled her windows. The neighbor works in his garage a lot. He welds and had a huge quantity of mechanics tools. I feel so bad for him. His Mom died like 4 months ago and he had lost his job. I just cant believe it.

So crazy. The firemen did a pretty good job his house is surrounded by big eucalyptus trees and brush. If that would have caught the outcome for the next neighbor an myself could have been very different.

ugggg!!!!

Now I am trying to calm myself, do homework, load my trailer and get dinner ready.

Calgon take me away!!!

Oh and don't forget the kids were across the street aware of all the action. The kids told my son his chicken coop was on fire. DD asked the teacher what was burning and she said a house. Oh, thank you very much. :he

That poor man! Is the neighborhood doing anything to help him with this?

Our house burned down when I was 4 years old. Everyone was so nice and donated a place to stay, clothing, food, household furnishings, etc. That meant a lot to a family with nine kids.

I was there when it caught on fire and can still remember my mother sobbing as it went up in flames...no fire dept. way out there in the country.

Well I just went down and spoke with him and his girlfriend. It was only the garage that burned. The main adobe wall between the garage and house stopped it. He does have smoke damage but all of his things are ok. He said he would stay at the house but the city turned off his electricity and gas just in case.

He is waiting for his insurance company to come. They are going to do a board up. Then he is going to stay with friends. I told him if there is anything I could do to please let me know.

just crazy.

It could have been so much worse. When I was 20, someone set the house across the street from me on fire. This was a family I had known all my life. Their son was a year younger than I, and we played together as children. They never made it out.

That is just horrible! :(

I know this sounds awful, but I was just teasing my boy and my mother about dying in a housefire on Sat. I told them that it was the perfect solution for me, personally, as I would likely die of smoke inhalation in my sleep, the fire would nearly cremate me and would also rid my kids of the need to sort through all my possessions.

My landlord would be happy, as the insurance would probably pay more than the house is actually worth.

Low cost solutions for a low income family!

But then...I hear a story about something like this and its no longer funny. :/
