add me to the book nerd pile. i'm so compulsive about my books that i am a member of a book cataloging website
(LibraryThing- highly suggested for other bibliophiles).
Nice cataloging site, but don't think I'm gonna unpack everything at this time - I bookmarked it though.

I have many books I wanted to sell but did a quick perusal search and find they just don't sell for much. Do you have a source that buys books? or gives an idea of what they may be worth?

Most of my books are science non fiction bought new between 1970 and 1990, about 1000 of them averaging $20 - $30 each.

I have a copy of "Story of Our Northern Treasureland - The Alaska Book"
I think it is the first edition in good condition and leather bound.

Jack London - The Sea-Wolf, 1st edition (1916)

Moby Dick - 14th edition, 1950

I also have the
The Collected Papers of Albert Einstein in German with many of his original hand written notes, 2 hardbound and 2 soft covers with the English translation. I can't find the 4 book set that I have which cost me several hundred dollars but this is what one of them looks like.

I take a book everywhere I go. I read all the time I can...even while using the toilet. I sometimes talk to people while I'm on the can as well...the ultimate in multitasking.

I stopped coloring my hair and am letting my grey hang out....btw, I still have a shag hair cut from the 80s.

I like doing crossword puzzles.

I'm good at Trivial Pursuit and Jeopardy.

I like all my towels to be folded the same way and facing the same way....washclothes also.

The only parts of the newspaper I like is the comics, Ann Landers and the crossword puzzle.

I like Reader's Digest Condensed Books and I collect them whenever I can. I have boxes of them.

I don't have regular TV...just the idiot box and the DVD/VHS player~own tons of movies.

I like Oldies Rock the best and sing while I'm driving. I have over 2000 songs on my computer. My truck only has a cassette player.... :(

I don't like cell phones and don't own one but can text pretty well.

I love to garden and keep chickens....even sheep!

I love and collect old porcelain and pottery pieces....particularly yellow speckled ones. I like that certain color of green also.

I spend an inordinate amount of time on forums about chickens, self-sufficiency and gardens. I have a collection of MEN mags from the 80s and the complete collection of the Foxfire books.

I am a country nerd.

When that episode aired I went to Wikipedia to look up Flatland. Now does it make me a non-nerd that I hadn't heard of it before or a nerd for referencing it on my laptop while watching the show?

A quick synopses of Flatland:

The square dreams one night about visiting Lineland, where there is only one dimension and he tries and fails to explain his existence and that of a second dimension to its king.

Later a sphere from Spaceland speaks to him, pokes his insides, and appears before him in his home, then carries him in an incomprehensibly new direction called "up", where he is able to look down and see into houses and the insides of the other polygons.

Suddenly understanding, he speculates that there may be dimensions beyond Spaceland, but the sphere is discomfited by this and returns him to Flatland, where he seems to just appear.

Later he is imprisoned for this talk of a third dimension, and he dreams of himself and the sphere visiting Pointland, where the Point - monarch, sole inhabitant, and universe in one - is unable to perceive them as anything but his own thoughts.

This causes him to connect the uncomprehending ignorance of the Point, the king of Lineland, and the rulers of Flatland together with the sphere's astonishment at the thought of some dimension beyond Up.

I first heard of flat land in a episode of Outer Limits called: "Behold, Eck!"

The 1964 Outer Limits rendition - 6 parts 9 minutes each.

What is your favorite Star Trek Movie?

I like "Insurrection" :thumbsup

The Baku are a colony of people that have discovered a planet, that has rings that give off metaphasic radiation. The metaphasic radiation makes the Baku people all young and healthy, as long as they stay on the planet they can live forever. They give up all technology to live on this planet, and they live a more simple life, because they realize that the technology cannot make their lives any better than this paradise planet.

There are goats, gardens and a handmade quilt in this movie about space. There is a villian that wants to take it all away but of course, the crew of the Enterprise come to the rescue, and the Baku live happily ever after. Capt. Picard gets a new girlfriend.

This is way nerd-worthy! :thumbsup
